Title: Boston's @ 18th & Boston...GONE?
Post by: AngieB on March 30, 2008, 01:47:37 PM
Happened to drive by there this morning and there's a big dumpster out there and the sign is almost completely gone. I hadn't heard anything about them closing...

Anyone know what's up?

The bar was taken over by new owners who wanted to make big improvements, but the landlord was not amenable to the proposed physical changes to the property, so they abandoned the venture.

That 18th & Boston area really has seen some nice little bars and clubs spring up.  I can't help but think the whole area needs an infrastructure facelift though if it is to really take off.

That sucks, that was a cool bar.  Though it did need alot more parking.  Does anyone know what they wanted to do with it that the landlord didn't like?

I can't believe it's still standing.  The underlying structure is ancient.

Its a former grocery store from the 1920's. Typical construction for the time and pretty solid but not well maintained.

Just to be clear, there's a large parking lot on the SW corner of 18th and Boston.  All you have to do is walk across the street.  (Not all parking is, or should be, directly in front of the establishment.

Best picture I could find of the building.
