WOW....the State Department? Who is over THAT!?
Major story for us conspiracy minded devils.
AN OUTRAGEOUS BREACH. Using the breach of privacy for political gain is sleezy. Our leaders are worthless fools.

I can remember this happening in at least one election before. Was it Bill Clinton's file or Kerry's file?
Republicans wrote the book when it comes to dirty politics. And they up the ante in each election cycle.
The Clintonites were behind this breach....and the Busheviks are too dumb to secure their own state department.
Of course, despite his passport file being very thick (thicker than Hildogs'), Obama is clean.
To those who see this as "no big deal", "a mountain out of a mole hill", or who say "I could care less if someone looked at mine", please post your full legal names current and previous addresses and social security numbers now.
Idiots everywhere....

I do believe that all of the candidate's passport files were breached.

Breached by insiders.....Obama has no allies inside the government. McCaint and Billary have tons of interested allies inside the state department. And two wrongs don't make it right. It's about our privacy and our rapidly deteriorating constitutional rights.

These were contractors, not insiders.

Don't try to place a red herring in this argument. We can all admit that there is an issue of protecting privacy that exists. But in this case, this has nothing to do with Hillary, McCain, or Obama....
And Halliburton's a contractor but not an insider? Give me a break....'
Chairman Waxman Requests the State Department Release the Identity of the Companies that Accessed Obama Passport File
http://www.speaker.gov/blog/?p=1230
Dear Madam Secretary:
Yesterday, Ambassador Patrick Kennedy, the Under Secretary of State for Management, confirmed that three contract employees working for two State Department contractors gained unauthorized access to the passport records of Senator Barack Obama. When Ambassador Kennedy was asked for the identities of the contract employees and the companies, however, he declined to provide them:
Question: Are you releasing the names of any of these three contractors or the companies for which they were contracting on behalf of the State Department? ...
Ambassador Kennedy: In a word, no.
I am writing to request that you provide the Oversight Committee by Monday with the identities of the companies involved in these breaches. I also believe this information should be made publicly available.
The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is the principal oversight committee in the House of Representatives and has broad oversight jurisdiction as set forth in House Rule X.
Sincerely,
Henry A. Waxman
Chairman
Obama has been victimized.....plays politically well for him!

I'd give you a break, but you are just grasping at straws here. It is as logically solid to say it was a member of Al Qaeda as it is a Hillary "insider".
Big to do about nada, though Obama is still the biggest victim since his file got pilfered three times in contrast to Clinton and McCain at one each. Wonder how many times some knob in the state department has read over my file while eating a tuna sandwich at lunch out of boredom?
Next thing you know, this Orwellian government of ours will start handing out a social identificaton number.

Guess what folks...... the government knows your birth date and social security number. Shocking, I realize.

The real issue is the dirt they keep trying to find. It does not exist.....
Just looked at this topic for the first time. How was someones passport file "DECIMATED!"?

I do not know. But, Keith Olbermann knows (plus a dig at him and those other alarmists out there):

I agree that this information was basic personal data, but I want to know more details.
Who was the contractor? Who are the people involved? Who hired them to work in the State department and how were they paid?
Why won't the Bush administration give out these details?
This thing begs more information and the American media don't seem to be asking any more questions.

Don't make such a big deal of it, because it's really not. All three candidates got snooped. My guess is this was a bored employee who had the new found power of being able to snoop passport files *yawn*. Wow, date of birth, SSN, been to Malta, been to Indonesia *yawn*.
Got news for you, there's people at the IRS and plenty of other departments with lawful access to all your sensitive information as well.

...which in time ends up on someone's laptop that ends up being liberated through a broken window.
Seems every bureaucracy that amasses sensitive data on the public makes the same promise it wont abuse/neglect it, and by now we should know better. (Do you know how much information, say, the Okla DPS sells to anyone with the cash?) That even presidential candidates are so vulnerable speaks volumes.

One potential out of 3 breaches...
Why do you think that the employee of the Obama consultant was looking at the records of John McCain?
No justification. Besides, his passport file is not what is important with his privacy. You can't disclose psychiatric records through a passport file. Remember Elsberg?

Boredom. What else can you gain other than SSN, DOB, residence, and places travelled. Virtually useless information unless a candidate says they were in Saigon at a certain time in the past and it turns out they were in Canada.
Perhaps someone snooped Obama three times trying to see if he'd traveled to any countries where someone could try and proove a link to Muslim extremists.
I like the title of this thread. "Passport File Deciminated!"
It screams IDIOT. Lets ya know what we're dealing with when confronting emotionally volatile liberals!
I can just see FOTARD running around in circles with his hands on his head! [}:)]
