Ownership Shift At Big Splash
Gerry Murphy, who owns the Tulsa waterpark, wants to get a loan to make what he calls major improvements.
The Tulsa County Fair Board voted to allow him to transfer ownership of the company to his wife on Tuesday. Murphy says his wife can get a better interest rate on the loan through the Small Business Administration.
The improvements are supposed to be finished by summer.
Women get all the breaks.
I'm sure the county will give him everything he wants.. I'm surprised they haven't offered to just "loan" him the money themselves... They give him everything else.
What percent of women or minority owned business are just listed that way for the government benefits? If I had a company I'd put it in my wife's name for sure, all the better if she was a minority.

Oh, I thought we were setting up another underage nightclub...[:o)]
This is clear case of abuse of the 8a small disadvantaged minority business program. The Murphy's are truly disgusting business people.

Funny you should say that, because that is exactly what Randi Miller said was going to happen, except she suggested it would be structured parking, at her quarterly fairgrounds town hall meeting just weeks before she dropped the hammer on Bell's. Do you think the uproar and outrage would have occurred if Big Splash got the boot? Judging from the round of applause that comment got in the room that night, I think not. I wonder if Karen Keith will be willing to cancel the Murphy Bros. midway contract and put it out for competitive bidding?
It was just awhile back Big Splash was trying to get the County to buy out their lease. That's right, buy out their lease, which is just opposite of the way lease buyouts typically occur in a case like this.

That entire park needs to be leveled. It is a disgrace. Nobody with any sense ever goes there. Keystone Lake has cleaner water.
