Title: I Am Proud of My Golden Hurricanes
Post by: guido911 on March 15, 2008, 12:40:45 PM
I know they lost today, but they had a heck of a final push in the C-USA tournament. Any other grads out there want to give a shout???

Yes. I've watched very little college B ball so far. But our Jamaican center, who has been playing only 2 years, may well be the most improved and impressive player I have seen come along at TU in a long long time and a reflection of good coaching. Looking forward to next year! Yah Mon!

Then I assume I will see you Wednesday night at the Reynolds Center as the Tulsa Golden Hurricane take on Miami(OH) in the first round of the inaugural College Basketball Invitational.

Tickets are as cheap as $5.

Be there!

I see Memphis is a #1 seed in the NCAA, so that's a respectible loss for Tulsa, if there is such a thing as a respectible loss.

33-1, 42nd or 43rd straight C-USA victory for Memphis.  Quite an opponent.

really not sure why Memphis is in this conf....it is so lopsided.  Memphis should be in the SEC or some other heavy hitter conf.

Clearly you're not a football fan. [;)]

If it is a 6pm game, I am in...8pm will not do for me because of a meeting conflict.

Point of order:

Golden Hurricane.

No "s" as our team is a singular entity not a collection of individuals.  One of a handful of Division I schools with a singular name.

As an alum, I should be beaten for this blasphemy, if not outright excommunicated. Oh well, I can always be a Stanford Cardinals' fan.

I can only think of a few.  Marshall Thundering Herd, Tulane Green Wave, North Texas Mean Green, Alabama Crimson Tide, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Syracuse Oragemen, and Illinois FIghting Illini.  Any others??

EDIT: after looking it up, I left out the Nevada Wolf Pack, Navy Midshipmen, and the North Carolina St wolfpack.

And refers to the color, not the bird.

ha!  May want to wait a few minutes to get those tickets.  The ticket window has a line snaking around the building, the phones are all busy, and the website has a wait list to log on!  Wooohooo!

Don't let that deter you, I'm sure it will die down soon.  It's just great to have that kind of demand.

Congrats to our hometown team tonight and throughout the CBI. Do we have one more win in you for the championship?

Go Hurricane!

If they win does this make them better than the losers who were good enough to at least make it to the NIT [:D]

At least the coach is getting to bump his win stats by playing in a 3rd rank post season championship thingy[:)]

I take it you are an authority on losers. At least we on this forum know that now.

I went to the game Monday night.  Great crowd, exciting atmosphere, two...uh...equally matched teams.  It was fun!  I usually catch a TU game or two each season, and this was the first time in years that I've seen this must excitement from the crowd.  Typically, if you stand up during the game, some grey-haired person behind you tells you to "sit down in front!"  TU fans are so white and polite, you'd think we were Canadian.  (I shouldn't complain...many of the fans at OSU games leave me feeling embarrassed for our state.  Nothing like seeing people with plumber's cracks yell the gum right out of their mouths...)

Still, it was great to see Tulsans come out and support the home team.  (Once OU and OSU were out of their postseason, a lot of Tulsans suddenly remembered that we have another university...right here in town.)  Go 'Cain!

Wasn't there a "fire Wojcik" thread here a while back?

My, how things change.

Yes, yes there was.  I'm proud to say I was clear in stating that I was disappointed by think he needed another year to prove himself (I admit I  was not impressed with him).  I think he is well on his way to doing just that.

In other news, the game will be televised tonight on Cox Channel 16:
