Post by: perspicuity85 on March 12, 2008, 01:06:30 PM
I noticed on their MySpace page,  http://www.myspace.com/dfest, that musician apps. are due on April 1st.  Send a message to your favorite musicians' fan sites and ask them to play at DFest!

Dfest is getting to be a HUGE deal.  They are expecting 30,000 people to come to the event this year.  I have a musician friend in Seattle who's considering submitting an application!  Go Tulsa!

I can't wait for this year's events. Last year was totally amazing. I really hope D-Fest turns out to be the next SXSW. :)

Yea, cant wait to go this year. Its great to see local people starting things like this and seeing them grow so well. In just a few short years its quickly becoming one of the largest events of its kind in the US. Tulsa Rocks![8D]

This is definitely one of those cool hip things that the city should promote, along with Tulsa Tough, the snazzy new arena[:D]. Instead of lame tv and newspaper/magazine adverts showing buffalo roaming the prarie... I mean "Native America" is all well and good mind you, but not nearly as fun.[:D] This could draw people from the entire region and help give Tulsa that hip image and bit of self-esteem, nationally. If we only had some great riverfront development, that would be the finishing touch....sigh.

Here are some pics I pilfered from flickr from last year.

How is Dfest going to top the Flaming Lips from last year? That was great..

Hard work but let's see who they get this year.

Seems like once you've demonstrated you can attract 30,000 attendees, as they have, your options are pretty wide-open.  Incidentally, it looks as if the Lips will be in Canada (//%22http://www.flaminglips.com/main.php%22) on the 26th.

FYI, South by Southwest attracts about 120,000, so, there's probably room to grow.

I hope you guys realize that this has about the same economic impact for our fair city as landing a college bowl-game.  Somebody ought to be handing those kids the keys to the city.  You tightwads who hate paying your taxes, you should send 'em all Christmas Cards at least.

I am 45 years old; hard to impress; planned on going to D-FEST for a couple of hours on ONE night. I am STILL talking about the TERRIFIC TIMES I/we had on BOTH NIGHTS.
It was truly an easy walk around downtown with everybody smiling and having an upbeat time.
GO TULSA!!!
