Title: New Residential Development in East End
Post by: carltonplace on March 11, 2008, 09:34:48 PM
Caught this at the BOA meeting today

Freese Architecture has designed an infill project for 3rd and Kenosha just east of down town. They were asking for a variance to build single family attached dwellings in the CBD. Developer is Micha, who has already rehabbed a bunch of buildings on 3rd street.

I really like how it faces the street. Apparently the team would like to eventually build some artist lofts on 3rd as well with around 20 units.

best I could manage on the image

I'm pretty sure these were discussed on here before, just minus the rendering.  I'm glad they're going in!

Wouldn't this be just past the outfield?

Awesome!  Is this just east of the Tiny bar (formerly 818)?

Yes [^].

Oh hey, does anyone know anything about the place called Girouard?  It's across the street from these buildings.  I looked inside one night and there are some small tables and not much else...  ???

Very nice, even just a few more buildings like that in the area and you would start to create more interest in the area. If I were the Mayor, I would be talking with the Bomasada group and trying to get them on board with the Baseball Stadium Plan. Downtown isnt quite an investment type area for the Bomasada group, but would be with a baseball stadium nearby and perhaps another small development or two on board as well. Being able to go to the voters saying, "Look if we build this stadium we will also be getting these great apartments, and (hopefully) some other developments as well" Could help persuade more people to vote for it and even more developers to come on board.

funny how modern is the new "hip" style.  I see these going up all over Houston and Denver when I visit.  I like the Denver version a little better as they incorporate more brick.
