Title: DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS

http://stadium.dallascowboys.com/

Our very own, Manhattan Construction. Your Vatican blessing.

There are six massive cranes working on what will be a new Texas Stadium
For the Dallas Cowboys. To say it is Texas-sized is almost an understatement.
And you could not have a more stark contrast to the stately Ballpark. This is a
Steel and glass monument like no other field in the world. It can seat up to
100,000 (though games will typically be 80,000). It will be the largest such
Venue in the world, and in theory will be open in 2009.

After you go into the site, click on each picture on the left and get a preview
Of different areas and amenities. The video screen hanging 110 ft. Above
The field will be 60 yards (180 feet!) long and weigh 600 tons. The end zone
Seats get screens that are merely 48 feet wide. Monster screens will hang
Outside the field for those who just want to come and tailgate.

The two steel arches supporting the stadium are over one-quarter of a mile
Long and will be the largest single-span arches in the world, bigger than the
St. Louis arches. The Statue of Liberty could fit under the retractable dome.
Each end zone will have a glass door 120feet high and 180 long, which can
Be opened in just 18 minutes.  And the cost? $1 billion give or take. Ten
Times the cost of the Ballpark. The taxpayers are contributing $350 million,
Plus a ton of new roads. The mind boggles at the expense, both public and
Private.

The stars at night - are big and bright
Deep in the heart of texas.
The prairie sky - is wide and high
Deep in the heart of texas.
The sage in bloom - is like perfume
Deep in the heart of texas.
Reminds me of - the one I love
Deep in the heart of texas.
The cowboys cry - ki-yip-pie-yi
Deep in the heart of texas.
The rabbits rush - around the brush
Deep in the heart of texas.
The coyotes wail - along the trail
Deep in the heart of texas.
The doggies bawl - and bawl and bawl
Deep in the heart of texas.

The stadium is excess personified.

The opening ends make no sense to me and the outdoor video screens for "tailgaters" are pointless as tailgaters would never get to park that close.

The total cost of constructing the stadium has passed the $1,000,000,000.00 mark.  The infrastructure being added to accommodate it will exceed $250,000,000.00.  All said and done the total cost of the stadium may well pass $1.3 Billion.  (about 2/3 private money all in)

Wow.

Tickets on the 50 yard line require a $150,000 licensing fee to buy, and then cost $340 each.  The top seat at the 50 yard line is 60 Yards down and 50 yards over from the actual sideline.   The cheapest available seat will be $75 plus taxes and fees (call it $90).  Texas sized money indeed.

The Colts are building a new stadium too.  For a meager $625 million.  No License needed to get a seat and tickets are "only" $189 on the 50.  The best venue was voted to be Lambeau field built for $1mil in 1956 and renovated in 2003 for a meager $300mil.   But don't worry, Minnesota is already planning on breaking the $1bil mark in the not too distant future (haven't started and already saying over 1bil).

I'd love to see a game in the stadium, but spending that kind of money is no joke.
