Title: Gary Shore
Post by: keyeser on February 25, 2008, 09:18:22 PM
For those of you who remember former KJRH Chief Meteorologist Gary Shore... he died of a heart attack today in Sioux City Iowa.  He had been working for KCAU for the past 6+ years there.  He was 55.

Weather at KJRH hasn't been the same since he left.

Godspeed Gary.

Sad. Knew Gary early on. Paid no attention to his health.

I remember him well, he was a great weather guy. I think he was on back in the days of Jerry Webber and Karen Keith.

Yup, without the gray and a bit less filled out.  Surprised no one has a promo photo for when he was at 2.

"Tulsa weather IS predictable." was his tag line. He once forcasted snow when none of the other stations could see it coming. We got a LOT of snow. That made his rep and they ran those promos forever. In the long run, he was no better at forecasting than the others but became quite a presence on the screen.

Trivia Time....What was Gary Shore's real name....?

I've been a meteorologist here in Tulsa for over 14 years...and had the pleasure of talking with and meeting Gary on several occasions. It's a good thing when the NWS can have a solid relationship with the media folk. Other cities aren't so lucky.

Gary was a strong Christian man and we'll miss him.

Almost. Gary would say Gary Shore was his real name. Otherwise, very good RM. As with you BB, why that question?

My favorite saying that he came up with was "Snizzle" for a mix of snow ice and drizzle.

"Dynamic Triad"

Gary Shore (Pescioco)
Jerry Webber
Karen Keith

A dinner at Flemings for two (max. value $150) if anyone can explain the significance of that phrase as it relates to Mr. Shore.

Well, looks like MarkK has taken his offer off the table AFTER a good guess by moi and an even a better stab by In2neon! Yes, Pescioco. Had totally forgotten that identity. I think he used that as his legal name.

MarkK remember this: Integrity is something you have or don't have. There is no in between.

yes, I took it off the table, but not because anyone got it right.  I was referring to an incident involving Mr. Shore's front lawn and lots of car gas caps.
