Title: If you had to take a tulsa cab company for a week
Post by: Im calling you out on February 18, 2008, 07:50:18 AM
I am trying to find a good cab company.  In your opinion what do you look for? Who do you suggest?  I have only used "City Cab".

We have cabs in the city?!?!?!?

The main place I've seen cabs i parked by the cargo area at the airport. I haven't had much occasion to use them because if I want to call someone, wait at least half an hour and then pay $50, I'd just generally stay where I'm at or walk.

I have some cabie named "Zach" listed in my phone.  Used him a couple of times and he was nice.  An older car run as a cab instead of a Yellow Cab looking deal, if that matters.

951-3166

Otherwise I use 582-8294 as my default late night cab.  Not sure why, just what I have listed on my phone.

If I had to take a Tulsa cab company for a week then I'd either be doing a lot of walking or I'd be an hour late to work a couple times.

We NEED computerized dispatch. The dispatchers have no clue if/when your cab is coming. Sometimes I'll call, then wait, then call back in an hour and they'll say "We don't have a cab in your area and we won't have a cab in your area anytime soon." I live downtown.

So to combat the incompetence, I usually just call three cab companies and pray one of them arrives in a timely fashion.

I took a cab in Memphis once. I got an automated phone call saying "your cab is coming in 12 minutes." I'm not sure why we can't get that here.

The only time I have ever used a cab in Tulsa it was to go to or from the airport.  It was a total ripoff.  One guy charged us extra because we had luggage!  Another driver got lost on the way to the airport.  It is cheaper and more reliable to leave your car in off airport parking.  The last time I had to use a cab I bargained with the driver upfront.  We came to an agreed upon price, he turned off the meter and I carried my luggage myself.

cabs in this town are a joke.  Tulsa doesn't have the density needed to run an efficient cab company.

You can usually find one at the local pawn shop waiting for their fare to pawn someone elses TV they just carried out of your neighbors back door. Its how they fill up slow days.

Tulsa cabbies are jerks. I guess I would be too if my only passengers were drunks or pissed off travellers. I bought my buddy's cab fare last night for his birthday. Fifteen dollars for a 2 mile trip, and lots of extra attitude to boot.
