Title: Good Tulsa Diners
Post by: jackbristow on February 05, 2008, 09:38:35 AM
I watched a show on the Food Network the other night about New Jersey Diners and the food looked amazing.  It got me to thinking, what and were are some REALLY good Diners in and around Tulsa?  Let me know so my wife and I can go check them out over time.  Recommended menu items would be handy as well!

I thought the same thing after I saw that show. Actually, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives is a pretty cool show.
In Tulsa, I think Brownies would qualify. If you really want to check out a local diner, take the trek to Joplin and go to Fred & Red's on Main Street.

You could always make the drive to Stillwater and go to Shortcakes.

Blue Dome Diner

And props for suggesting Shortcakes. I spent many an early morning there eating the cheapest, greasiest, most delicious food after a long night on the Strip. :)

I got into shortcakes once, every other time there was an unbelievable wait. The on time I got in we sat 7 at a table meant for 4.

I ended up at Denny's most nights.

Seconds to all of the above.

And, if you're willing to drive a bit, Clanton's Cafe in Vinita and the Rock Cafe in Stroud.

City Diner at 69th & Lewis recently opened. We've had breakfast and I had an open faced hot beef sandwich, both to go.

The hot beef sandwich was the best I've ever had. I mean it was very, very good. It seems a little pricier for diner fare, but quality wise you are getting what you pay for.
