My fiancee and I recently closed on our new house. We have a chihuahua mix thats about 2yrs old that we got from the pound. It has all current vaccinations and papers. She is housebroken loves to sleep on your lap and cuddle, spayed, doesn't bark or bite. Included is her cage, food, treats, toys, etc. Free to anyone that wants it. If interested please call me at 918 519 2737 and ask for Matt.
No pets in the new Casa?
I'm not in the market for any more dogs, plus my dogs are 50+ pounds and reside outside most of the day. Not good for a small short haired dog in February or I'd say I could keep him for you if it became crunch time.
Wow. You have a crate-trained, housebroken, loving dog that you want to give away because you have a new house. I'm trying not to be judgmental here...but how cold are you? You're not planning on children are you? They can be hell on a new house.
Sorry, I just don't understand. [:(]
It sounds like the fiancee is not much of a dog person.
My advice...it is easy to find a new fiancee. A good dog is worth keeping.

actually she is the one who got the dog. I personally love animals, but do not want it in the house and its not an outside dog. We do plan on having kids and in fact, plan on adopting my 3.5yr old twin nephews. I do not like the dog hair, wiping their paws the 4 or 5 times she goes outside to use the bathroom when its raining, etc etc. Anyone know of a place that will take her in and find a good home for her?

I need to have her out of the house by tomorrow afternoon. If not, then looks like she is going to the pound unfortunately.
I'm afraid she would freeze to death at my house as my dogs are outside all day and often into the night and winter is far from over. I'll ask a buddy if he wants to hold on to it with his small herd until a home can be found, but it seems unlikely.
Please contact the Humane Society (//%22http://www.tulsapets.com/%22). The pound will more than likely put him down.

Just curious, which came first? The dog or the house? Did the two of you not discuss this? Just seem kind of last minute.
Do you have vet records for the dog?
Do all the dogs of the world a favor and never get another one. I can't imagine having a loving pet for that long and then just giving it away because I am moving.

+1
Can it do tricks?
Herd Sheep, fetch a beer, anything?
It's probably already down at the dog shelter awaiting euthanasia. Sad.
we had the house built. signed the contract and everything last Aug. She was gung-ho on getting a dog so one day while I was at work she went to the shelter and picked one up. Today I had chemdry come clean my carpet because the directv installer tracked in mud EVERYWHERE into our brand new house. I asked them if either one wanted her and one of them gladly took her.

I didnt say we had her for two years. I said she is about 2 years old. My fiancee picked her up last week (she has a soft heart). I personally love dogs, have had one all my life. I just dont want to mess with the dog hair, smell, etc in a brand new 200K house. Once we get a fence and everything then we can get another one.

Good deal!
I'm glad you found her a new home. Whip your wife lightly, sardonically for me tonight as punishment for her spontaneity. Oh, and I hope this isn't retaliation by giving the dog away in a similar covert fashion. Otherwise you probably should just hand the keys to that new house to your wife and call it done with. [;)]

haha. Well I have come up with an idea. I was going to tell her "honey, I thought it would be easier for you to part with her by not seeing her one last time." That and buy her something extra nice for valentines day. She called earlier, I broke the news and she hung up. It should be a pleasant night!
Oooh snap! You really did give away her dog without asking. Your up sh!t creek man.
Rookie mistake. Seriously, there is no way this ends well. Let me know what motel you stay at and I'll bring you a sixer. [B)]
I can't wait for you to be arse deep in baby poop and your toddlers eat dirt and then barf....on your cleaned carpets.
Note to Fiance: Get out of this now. Run!

once again, read my above post. We plan on adopting my twin nephews who are 3.5yrs old. You make it seem like I am some horrible person for giving away a dog. The reason I posted this thread in the first place is because the pound was the last resort. We wanted to find her a good home and know that she will be cared for. The chemdry guy is taking her home to his wife and kids as a surprise. I will meet up with him again to give him the paperwork. Whats so inhumane about that?

haha thanks. I have been sleeping on the couch the past two nights anyways because I have been really sick and didn't want her to catch it. I will let you know how it's going when she gets home around 530.

Are you kidding me???? Maybe get another one when it's more convenient for you -- dogs are not something you can pick up at the store and then return when you get buyer's remorse -- how dare you treat an animal as if it's disposable. You're not equipped, in any way, shape or form to be a responsible pet owner. Getting a dog because you feel sorry for it is the lamest thing I ever heard. There are so many unwanted pets in this city literally dying for a loving home and someone like you picks one up with no thought to the responsibility it takes and when you decide you don't like wiping its feet or its hair on your sofa you get rid of it. Guess what - good luck finding a dog that won't have an accidental poopie on your berber or get mud on your club chair, much less shed. There is no such animal. That's why animal lovers love their dogs and would never dream of getting rid of them for such ridiculous reasons. We knew what we were getting into and never looked back. I have had dogs that lived as long as 18 years and they went with me no matter what. That's what being a responsible pet owner is all about. BTW -- I know people who live in million dollar homes that own multiple smelly, poopie, drooling dogs and they love them all more than their material things.

LOL, you can tell alot about a person by the way they treat animals. Okay you're a good guy, no problem. Good Luck! Lucky just probably won't be tonight.

guess I need to explain myself for a 3rd time. Who in the hell are you to tell me that I am not a responsible pet owner? I could have simply driven down the highway and dumped her, took her out back and shot her or any of the other cruel and inhumane ways to dispose of a pet, but I chose to post her first to see if anyone wanted her and then make arrangements. For God sake, the dog slept in our bed, was bathed every 2nd day, plenty of toys, treats, etc. Let me give you the story.
My fiancee went and picked up this dog without telling me while I was at work. We had the discussion plenty of times that we wouldn't get a dog until we got a fence, because I don't want animals in the house. My mom is extremely allergic to pet dander and a host of other things. My parents live just 3 miles from us and will visit often. I didn't just go pick this dog up like it was a movie rental, keep it for a few days only to return it later. We both work 50+ hrs a week and is perfect for an older couple who is retired as it is very mellow, loves to cuddle, sleep, etc. It didn't fit our lifestyle and I tried to do the best with the hand I was dealt. You have your opinions on dogs and I have mine. Don't come preaching to me about inhumane and irresponsible I was for giving it away. If anything, we saved it from being killed in the first place. If it makes you feel any better we took it to the woodland west pet resort for two days while we moved at a cost of only 13 dollars a night so she would be OK while we moved all our stuff. Make you feel better??
I did have a flat tire on the way home this afternoon that took me over 2hrs to change because the tools that Toyota give you on the 08 4runner are horrible and my spare was low. Karma??
FYI, for the future, keeping dog outside 24/7 in the city usually doesn't work. They tend to bark at random hours of the night (your fellow 200+K house owners will not appreciate that) as well as get too cold in Tulsa in the winter. Not to mention socially they get mal adapted - if they are outside and you're working 50 hours a week you won't be spending enough time with them (them because one dog outside is just pathetic looking, you need a pair:).
Just so you know. Indoor/Outdoor works just fine in Oklahoma with large dogs, but IMHO leaving them outside 24/7 just doesn't work well. When we got our fence up our backyard went from garden to mud pit, we replaced our carpet with hardwoods, and ended up getting him a ***** to play with. Dang dogs. [;)]

haha. I have owned black labs and boxers in the past, kept them strictly outside except when they were puppies and it was too hot/cold outside and they were just fine. I also was in highschool and college. Anyways, I will be back later on tonight. If you don't hear from me, please call the jenks police dept and put in a missing report by this time tomorrow.

First, she gets the dog. What's next?? I'm sure that she will buy stuff for the house that she wasn't supposed too.
Good luck to ya!!Snicker, snicker [^]

I have to make one more point about your lack of fitness to be a pet owner (that's who I think I am). How old are you? You had pets in college? Where are they today? So did I and one of them was with me up until four years ago. I got her when I was 22 and had her until I was 40. What's the longest time you owned a pet? Puppyhood to death? I have two BBDs now aged 8 and 11. My boxer died last year at age 11. All of them rescued. All of them with behavioral problems. I feel sorry for any dog you have. They are dispensable. Something to have fun with until you tire of them or they get your carpet dirty. Obviously you have a problem with dirt, dander, etc. Then you better not get a dog. You're going to have your hands full with three year old twins.
I am a huge animal lover, and So many times I have seen people get a dog, then when they find out it needs to eat, crap, needs bathed and walked, they dont want to be part of it.
Thousands of dogs and cats get put down every day because people wont take the time to get them fixed. So we end up with more animals than we can possibly house.
Pet stores need to be banned from selling dogs and cats that are from breeders, until there is no more need for pounds and humaine societys.Who gives a damn if the neighbor has a pure breed with papers!
wow,bet he didnt plan on getting the 3rd degree from us old farts!

I am 25 years old sir/mam. I have had a black lab since 8 weeks old through high school/college who stays in the backyard at my parents house and sleeps in the garage only when its super cold. I had a golden retreiver before him, she died of old age. We also had a boxer before her, we had to put her down because of a brain tumor. The reason the dogs stayed at my parents house is because no apartments allow 90lb black labs running around. Now I know this is the internet and only a message board, but you have some nerve coming on here questioning my ability to raise kids. I sure hope when your kids grow up you allow them to express their own opinions and form their own beliefs on things.
Let me be the first to apologize to you and bow down to your royalty because you allow dogs in the house and raise them from the day they were born till they die and bury them at the local cemetary. Once again, I originally started this tread intending to find a home for this dog. In essence I was a foster home if you will since it was going to be put down in less then a week anyways at the shelter. How inhumane of me.

she is fine. Had a long day at work and a headache, so she was in bed at 830. She was mad but she understood and was glad to see she went to a good home. Thanks for the concern! I did sleep on the couch though. I am still really sick and my coughing was waking her.
