I do love my vet, but he is sooo far south and I live north of Tulsa. I would love to find someone closer to home. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Don't know where you are, Poovy, but my wife and I take our dogs to Cedarwood Veterinary Clinic (//%22http://www.cedarwoodveterinary.com/%22), on Harvard and 15th. They've been very nice, and Dr. Wendy has been extraordinarily kind and gentle with our ailing old lady.
If they're in your neighborhood, you should check them out.
Catoosa Small Animal Hospital, Vet Steve Wehr, excellent and they open on Sunday for boarders to pick up their pups!
The 15th Street Vet group (near 15th and Sheridan) http://www.15thstreetvet.vetsuite.com/Templates/inquisitive.aspx - any of the three vets (Dr's Wagner, Shackelford or Reed) are great.
Tom Mcoy on or about 38th and Harvard....
I'll second Cedarwood. Dr. Poteet has cared for my dogs on and off for right at 20 years now. He takes great care of the beast:

I'll second this one. My parents, one brother and I went to them from about 1984 until 1999. They are a great bunch of people. The only reason we left is I moved to Arizona and my parents moved to Oregon. My brother had past in 1991 and I adopted his two cats when I moved into his house and continued taking them there.

For a second there, I thought you were getting YOUR primary care from a vet. [;)]

Probably would have gotten better care than I was getting with Pru Care HMO at that time.
Congrats on your new boxer puppy. I just put my 11-year old boxer to sleep a few months ago and I miss him horribly. He was a wonderfully rotten and spoiled dog that loved everyone he met. He was a little tough to handle at times, but by age 3 he was a real sweetheart. He drooled a lot, too, as they all do, and he wouldn't do a thing you asked unless there was food involved, so beware!! Lord those are stubborn dogs!
I have used the 15th Street vet group for several years. They are great and were very caring at the end.
NellieBly, I'm sorry for your loss. I know the pain too well. I've always had at least one dog and my dogs are like my kids. I have two 10 year old dogs and I'm dreading the day I have to say good bye to them. My friends say in their next life, they want to come back as one of my dogs. [:P] Lola is my first Boxer. She is a character! I had no intention of getting another dog right now, but stuff happens! She's wiggled her way into our hearts.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for your input.
