I need to upgrade the RAM on my PC. In the past, a lot of people thought Kingston was a good company, so that's what I used for my Dell. Now, I've got an E-Machines desktop (cheap, and good enough for my purposes) and I'm not sure what/where to buy RAM online.
Two questions:
1. What's a good website for buying RAM upgrades?
2. Does anyone know which companies make the best/most reliable memory modules?
I looked on MemoryStock.com and they recommended several options for my PC, but I'm not sure which brand to choose. They list Hynix, Samsung, Elpida, and Micron.
Anybody have any thoughts on this stuff?
you cannot go wrong w/ newegg.
www.newegg.com
good prices...ive never had any problems w/ that company over 5-6 years of hardware purchases.
ive not stuck to one brand of memory.
ive used crucial (micron), kingston, corsair...i think im missing one.
anyways, ive never had any problems w/ those memory manufacturers. as always this is just my opinion. YMMV.

^^^ +1
Newegg, although I use pricewatch.com to judge whether I'm getting a good deal.
NewEgg +1
I have been very happy with TigerDirect for both business and personal purchases. Got a good deal on a bare bones pc two years ago.

Thanks for the advice. I just placed an order with NewEgg.
Kind of moot, but TigerDirect has treated me well in the past too (I bought a graphics card there). Just giving credit where due.
newegg rocks, I have had a problem a couple of times with them (well not so much them but products they sold) and they went out of there way to fix the problem. You don't tend to find that with a online store. Now even if newegg isn't the cheapest I still order from them as I know if a problem comes up there going to be there to make it right with no fuss.
+100000000000000000 for newegg.. I can't even remember how many orders I have placed through them, but ALL of them were perfect every single time. Been at least 5 years now..

I have built 2 computers all from parts ordered from newegg. I concur with the rest.
Look at www.crucial.com
You can search for your system and find the right specs for additional RAM. Good prices and they usually have free shipping.
And newegg is good...as many others have said.
Is Newegg a spin-off or reincarnation of Egghead? I never hear of them anymore.

no, newegg is from the grount up. They really took the internet by storm. they used to be a little hit and miss but they are the current "it" place to get computer parts. very rarely are they more than the other guys.
Then there's always CompUSA's store closing sale at 71st near HY169.
Im going to miss that place. They had a much bigger computer-stuff selection than Bestbuy or any of their competitors.
