Title: For the sharp-dressed man in all of us....
Post by: mr.jaynes on January 17, 2008, 02:23:31 PM
To stay on top of trends and to look good doing it; to turn a few heads in admiration for your sense of style, let me suggest a catalog to which I subscribe and order from regularly. It's International Male, and they've got just about everything you need to make a good impression when going out on the town or simply hanging out. Check it out!

I mostly shop from the Local Slob stores and buy little from catalogs.

I noticed the fur coat on the cover, but did not recognize the type of animal.

I like to ask strangers wearing furs what kind of animal their coat was made from. Whatever their answer, I say "He must have been huge!"

My favorite shirt came from the salvation army thrift, most of my apparel comes from clearance racks, thrift stores or online.

No matter how nice the shirt is, I still won't look like anyone on that site, so why not save some $$?

Prada rolled out some new menswear yesterday. For example...

Crafty? No, I'm just trying to point the way to some really cool and fashionable threads for guys, stuff that I would wear and that I actually do wear. No trickery involved: I don't make a commission on  every deal, nor do I get a discount. I just like good clothes.

Gay, straight or whatever, it's something that transcends one's gender preferences. As I see it, it's tailored (pun intended) to the man who wants good clothes, but doesn't want to spend a fortune.

But for those with concerns to the previous link's integrity, here's a better one to visit the site:

There stuff is a bit... "flamboyant" at times. I prefer Kenneth Cole. It better fits the "Official Tulsa YP dress code". [8D] There is only one color,,, black. However if you want to be flashy a touch of blue now and then is acceptible.

I went to the first link?  What was wrong, although I will admit, went straight to the underwear section, who knew they made push up thong's for men!  WOW, my husband is holding out on me!  :)

I did think the jeans that were on sale for $29.99 were nice, and what a price!

Back in my early twenties, I had a LOT of gay male friends. International Male was the soft-core porn that everyone looked forward to receiving every month.

Now, it seems, that on the website, you can ZOOOOM into the crotch area of the underwear photos.  God bless the internets.

p.s. that yellow outfit that Borat wore while lounging on the beach....that was straight out of the International Male catalog in the nineties.  :o)

Thank you, LisaPeace, that's what I was referring to.  There used to be some ridiculous duds in there back in the day.  It was a common prank in college to order a subscription to IM for your buddies.  It was always a huge burn when an issue showed up in his mailbox. We'd be all, "what's up, dude? your girlfriend get that for you?" *guffaw-chortle-guffaw*

Ah, simpler times.

Please don't say flamboyant, everytime someone does I end up with the pet shop boys in my head for a week.

BTW Kenneth Cole is booooring.

Apparently, that area spun off into "Undergear", I checked out their site (for research purposes only, of course).

Does any of this bring back memories?  Oh, and I'm still cracking up that when you click "Zoom", you get an option to zoom into the crotch.  hehe

Ow ow ow!  Too much, can't look!  Lalalalalala . . . .

Seriously, you gotta have a real physique to wear that stuff.  Let's just say that it's not made for your everyday schlub with a gut, back hair, and no tan. That's Trophy Husband wear.

Well, for me, it's the shirts, some of the jackets and coats, some of the pants are ok, and occasionally the shoes. Underwear I can get at Walmart.

I do not disagree. The 1930's-40's was a time where one could be simple in their accoutrements, yet elegant, and while it's old-school, it never goes out of style.

To me thats what Kenneth Cole offers. Classic but also a classic/modern twist. Sure they have some other stuff that changes but there is always a core of the classics. They have great quality and styled shoes at a great price, classic belts, watches... Plus they offer a slim, form fitting, "French" cut that I like.

I can see me, or Cary Grant lol, in any of these.

Men will start dressing like Cary Grant again when all men become European born homosexuals until that day a good portion of men will still let their wives buy their clothes at wally world.

Nothing wrong with looking your best. But there are times when jeans and a t-shirt work out smashingly....
