AT&T replacing U-Verse IPTV batteries in cabinets that go boom
AT&T has to sort this one out seeing as these U-Verse IPTV equipment cabinets all over the country have a growing concern that they may explode, with this in respect AT&T are looking at replacing over 17,000 backup batteries in U-verse equipment cabinets.
So far to date there have been four incidents since October 2006 in where explosions have occurred in Houston, Wisconsin and Cleveland.
The incident that happened in Wisconsin was so strong when it exploded it had enough force to blow the 50 pound cabinet door off its bolts, this is pretty bad for AT&T seeing as the battery manufacturer "Avestor" filed for bankruptcy in October 2006 and of which are now out of business.

Intenet Protocol Television.

AT&T currently has 300 channels on it's service. It's competition for for Cox Comcast and others.

These would be placed near major streets just like the similar boxes for phone and cable service. We're talking 3' square or so, not a backyard size.
That must have been one heck of a pr0n movie that was playing

its a bundled service of internet, cable tv and phone through fiber optic lines (traditionally) They are putting fiber in the new neighborhoods around town. It uses mpg4 compression so it uses less bandwidth.

the link above explains u-verse in more depth.
So when is this coming? I would love to throw my dish in the trash and sign up for this. Assuming of course they would offer it here in South Bixby.
I'm so sick of my only choice for HDTV and Internet being Bixby telephone or one of the satellite providers.
In Iraq we called these IED's. (Improvised Explosive Device)

They are hiring install technicians right now and expanding some of the AT&T stores.

I really hope they come South quickly. The day I can get rid of the satellite dish and tell Bixby Telephone to take a hike will be a happy day.
The standard to meet/beat in land-based internet/TV is Verizon's FiOS (Fiber on site) but the downside is you have to deal with Verizon.
at&t U-verse is barely a close second with their fiber-coax hybrid.

I have Verizon Wireless and have had great luck with them. Far better than Cingular. I wish Verizon would move into this area with their other services.
Does anyone know what parts of Tulsa, Jenks or Owasso this is available?

highly unlikely. they have a near impossible time getting into areas where they dont already provide phone service.

I checked my address in southern Jenks and it's available now.
I'm jealous. Mine's not available yet. Just last week, I started looking for a new service because Directv ticked me off. I was really happy they announced their roll out today.
I was checking addresses through their site and discovered a few addresses less than 1 mi from my house that were ready to go. The weird thing was that only those 2 houses, closest to their NEW AT&T box had the capability (FYI - google maps are amazing!). I decided to check those addresses since I saw them installing that new box 3 or 4 months ago. So surely, it can't be that long until I can get it. Right?
A word of advice....DO NOT bundle all your tech needs with one vendor.
ATT is charging about $70 more than you would pay seperating phone, internet, and television from what little info I've gotten so far.
It all depends on who will furnish me with a library of on demand movies from here to eternity...

That seriously good advice.
The smallest clerical fluke or billing error with any of the big bundlers could leave you in the dark, as they will shut ALL of your services off at once and without notice.
Leave yourself a safety net by having separate internet and phone service, at least.
I could see myself going with U-verse for internet, but sticking with DirecTV for video.
Bundling is just too risky.
