Yep, hubby and I decided at the last minute to get the kids a Wii system for Christmas. Thankfully, they did not ask for one, but grades were all As this semester and we figured they deserve a treat.
Not a store a town that I tried had one. Best Buy told me on the phone that they still had some around 6:00 tonight, so I race across to both stores and was told that "they just sold the last one, BUT they did have Xbox, PS3 etc. If I wanted one of those, I wouldn't be looking for the Wii, would I?[:(!]
Anybody lucky enough to get one?
We have had one for a year.
I can beat my son at bowling but my daughter can outbox me. It is the only video game that requires actual movement.
Wii's are impossible to find in stores at this point. Best Buy was suppose to get some in last Sunday, but people got there at 3 am. I hear that its become very corrupt--people who work in the stores let friends know when they are getting shipments, those people get in line, buy them up, and sell them on ebay for more. Gamestop is actually selling certificates that entitle you to get a Wii sometime in January, and you have to stand in line for that, too.
As much as I hated doing it, we broke down and bought one on ebay. It was about $50 more than the asking price, which I guess isn't too bad. Still, it makes me very angry that they just didn't make more.
We have the dance revolution game for wii as well. It is hilarious to watch the kids disco, but I am sure the exercise does them good.
Most video games are best played sitting in front of the TV and moving your thumbs. Wii encourages you to move around and act like you are really playing.
I really like the baseball game. I have learned to throw a screwball (takes one to know one). We like playing it so much, I am thinking about building a pitching mound in my living room and buying a batting helmet.
i scored two 250$ consoles (we got ours last year) off of amazon two weeks ago...
sold them both for face value, cause im just that damn nice...

Posters have them on Craigslist.....but you'd pay a premium.
I know someone who's bought 40 of them. If you want one, get up early tomorrow morning. Many times stores like Best Buy have them in stock and hold them for sunday ads. If the sunday ad says "wii in stock" then go stand at the door when they open.
Nintendo has purportedly lost $1.3bn in sales due to Wii shortages. Keep in mind that Wii supplies have been at least mildly constrained for over a year at this point.
If you're willing to pay above list, I can ask around.
Hope you got your Wii - if not, I bought one yesterday (I was in line to ask if the had Nintendo DS Lite and they had just received a shipment of Wiis - thought I was lucky) for my daughter and this morning (Christmas) she told me she appreciated it, but really doesn't want a Wii.

that is an unrealized loss. i could sit here and say I'm losing billions a day for not selling my new whiz bang idea.
Nintendo is controlling supply. I hope these end up like the 2600 ET cartridges buried out in california when everyone gives up and buys something else.
I do want to thank Nintendo for getting rid of all the kids on XBL though. I think the maturity level has increased by about 5 years on there and the number of screaming brats has dropped signifigantly.
The PS3 was in severe shortage and the Wii in only mild shortage in 2006. Those flopped in 2007. Nintendo wanted limited stock initially but they weren't counting on the Wii catching on with the grown adult/casual gamer crowd. They have stepped up production but demand stepped up just as much.
Likely not since the 2600 has a console been so popular with the 30+ crowd.
meanwhile the Xbox continues to rake in ticked off Wii and PS3 shoppers.
Still haven't gotten one yet, and unwilling to pay outrageous sum of money so I'll wait until there is a new shipment in.
Son is cool with that. He got a picture wrapped in a box of what his gift was supposed to be. He did get other neat games for his PS2 system, and the Guitar Hero III so we didn't have any disappointments at home.

I guess, Wii is one of the great inventions of Sony. Aside from having PS2, I think I will be addicted with this one too. I got an attitude of wanting to finish what I have been started. I love adventure games.
That shortage happens to IPhone too, I think.
