I wish they would just do away with user comments altogether. It is nothing but a sounding board for lunatics.
Never heard of her, but I don't follow the top 40 Billboard Muzak Grocery Store music much. Must not play her on KMOD or Z104.5.
Give us a link, example..
I think the comments are interesting sometimes. I like that feature. No one is forced to read the comments.

Try comment #1...then see the retribution by several commenters. And how about #49 followed up by more angry comments. Is there really a reason for commentary on a topic like this?? I just want to go there and read the news, not for the opinions of hacks - that's what Tulsanow.org is for. [:)]
And I can't even get started with the articles on ORU or ANYTHING to do with Kathy Taylor. It's simply too exhausting. I know I just shouldn't read the comments, but I can't help myself.
Reading comments is optional.

it is the one and only place people can confront the blatant propaganda of TW. It was critical during the river tax farce that was almost foisted on us.

And that makes TulsaNow what? [:D]
At lest we er al betar spellars then thouse peple on Tulsa Werld.
The spelling of some of those people in the comments makes you wonder how they even read the paper in the first place.
Can they at least ban the morons who post "there's no parking" on every arena story?
It's awful. Hit-and-run posters with the same tired complaints about things they never wanted to understand in the first place.
Reading the World online is optional.
Posting comments is optional.
The comments are simply amazing. They are foul and display the worst in our community. It's like a bunch of retarded drunks holding a contest for who can be the most offensive and least informed. It's obvious that most don't even read what they are commenting on.
I still think that the comments should remain, but the World should require some sort of registration via e-mail so that the posters understand that what they post can be traced back. It might temper some of the most libelous and stupid comments.
Not that the comments can't be traced anyway, no one that posts those comments is clever enough to spoof their MAC and IP addresses, but they aren't bright enough to to even understand what a MAC address is.

I found #1's post kind of humorous. Did anybody post a disparaging comment about the size of her son's, "manhood"?
I have to fight the urge to scroll down to the responses everytime. Always regret it when I dive into that mess.
Ugh, those women have let their (gag)"birth stories" [xx(] define them for far too long. That is why they are posting crap nobody cares about and are displaying NO CLASS in the process. They have held on far too long. It is so important to them that it's all they see themselves. As a mom of 2, I can say I am ECSTATIC when my kids get through all the baby stages b/c all that newborn/maternity goodness makes me want to puke!
OK, enough.

good one.[^]
The comments sections are great. I think it is bold and daring and everything good for the TW to allow that format.
Why would a reputable newspaper allow anonymous and sometimes slanderous comments to be part of their story coverage?
There are plenty of places to comment about the news, why would you want unknown people to be able to counter, spin or outright lie about what your reporter wrote on your own website?
Is it only a way to get more traffic so you can charge higher rates?
I don't know. But I have to say, I love posting under my pseudonyms. recyclemichael and WilliamtheArtist.
Just messing with you folks. I only do impersonations of people nobody knows.
See the first (and so far the sole) comment posted after Saturday's unsigned editorial about the downtown Wal-Mart Supercenter (//%22http://www.tulsaworld.com/opinion/article.aspx?subjectID=61&articleID=071110_7_A16_hBack16637%22).

Let's not panic simply because Wal-Mart has reneged on its plan to build a supercenter in downtown's East Village.

Umm, no one's panicking.
Perfect! Thanks, Lizzy.
It is great thing, remarkable, I hope they can keep it going. It is a paradigm shift of enormous magnitude for a media company, and I hope it helps circulation. They need advertising to follow the length of the posts, lot of dead space toward the end that could be u$eful . . .
It's not the content of the posts so much, well okay yes some of the comments are pretty backwardsass. The spelling is deplorable. I don't always hit all my punctuation and spelling, but that's what I get sometimes when I post on the fly. I'm talking basic spelling. I shudder to think when someone from Chicago or NY Googles a story from Tulsa and reads the comments.
No wonder the rest of the country still thinks we are a bunch of backwoods hill-jacks
And the rest of the country is dominated by Queen's English-speaking literature graduates? Sheesh. I do not believe that the world thinks we are a bunch of iggnernt hix.
I think the World deserves credit for their revolutionary approach to readers' comments, and not blame for perpetuating the elitist snobbery of the coasts.

Have you ever been to "the coasts"?
This sounds like a job for StupidFilter.org (//%22http://stupidfilter.org/main/%22)
It's far better we understand who we are, and strive to improve from there.
Let's not get into promoting something we are not and be what we are at any given time.
GEE WHIZ...
Some of these people go too far. Pay special attention to #12

Kash, #12 must have gotten all his 411 on this from KRMG. There's no way in hell he could possibly read the TW with his example of spelling.
Luv ya, Conan!

I'm enourmously pleased, grasshopper.
That was for those who think we are not hics, or are ashamed that we may be.
But, compared to what?
I've personally met genuine bluebloods who would be challenged in lacing their own shoes.
Yet, I'm perpetually impressed with people of this region who demonstrate incredible skill, innovation and whole heartedness in their work despite sometimes obvious marginal social graces.
Making progress doesn't always amount to good grammar or spelling. Surely, it helps at times.
People with money are not able to buy those characteristics. But, with the good people of this region, they are able to rent them for awhile to make themselves look better.
Sounds right to me oh wise one.
I've known great people that couldn't read. Some of the most malcontent individuals you'll ever meet, can otherwise have character.
That focus on our faults isn't beneficial, leads to self-loathing. And Oklahoma has plenty of that. But it is better to understand who we are, rather than cry for who we are not.

Actually belongs in another thread we have going, but I couldn't resist:
"Class isn't something you buy Reggie. Look at you, you're wearing a $700 suit and you're still a low-life."
"Yeah, but I look good!"
