On August 19, 2008, America will mark the 50th anniversary of one of the first major civil rights sit-in in the country. It was led by a 34-year-old history teacher, Clara Luper. and her students. The scene was a lunch counter in downtown Oklahoma City. Soon, civil rights sit-ins were being held all over the country, and the same peaceful technique later was adopted by Vietnam war protesters. A new website will discuss Clara Luper and the sit-in movement at http://claraluper.com/
