Got to tour the new arena about two weeks ago.  Very nice facility.  The private boxes were particularly nice.  Will anyone please invite me to watch an event from one of the sky boxes, please?

From the people who gave us the tour and their comments, it was very obvious basketball has driven this entire facility, as well as the re-do on the current convention center.  I worry that basketball alone, particularly if the tournaments don't come here, will end up costing tax payers a fortune for an empty arena.

Some new pics. Its interesting to look at the original rendering and see the changes that were made. The west facing side of the building still looks nice. The south east side that you see from downtown is not as nice after the changes imo.

Hey...I got a question...if this center is so great, why hasn't "Coheed and Cambria" come to town to play there??

Well, it is a pretty good place...question remains - why?

Cains, or the Vanguard might be better venues choices  (think smaller, much smaller)

Heir, you realize you bumped a 5.5 year old thread, right?  Since we are here, who else got tix for Sir Paul?

They actually did play the BOK Center.  One of the opening acts for Slipknot.  I know, I was there...  I know it is important to have first knowledge around here.   ::)

Yep.  I wanted something that was exclusively BOK...

No Sir Paul.  Probably won't be around for it...  sadness.

I had heard they did some openings for Slipknot, but didn't know it was here, too.  There current concert schedule is mostly overseas, so probably won't be back anytime soon.  I just found out about them around Christmas time.  There seems to be a styling that reminds me a little bit of Rush, with maybe some Metallica mixed in for spice.

Were they any good?   ....did you like them?  If so, may have to check them out next trip to New Zealand....

Shuffling off the mortal coil or traveling?

Shuffling off the mortal coil or traveling?

I am certainly planning like I won't be shuffling off the mortal coil any time soon.... traveling....always.... if anything reasonable was going on in Tulsa in my world, would be stopping that now!  His concerts are during a time when there will be few days of work, but also many days of vacation through some truly gorgeous country - northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.  First week of June should still be late winter, with a very nice hint of spring!

Seems like it mostly consists of the same old merry-go-round places/jobs happening right now in town, though.  One thing that is definitely good - actually fantastic! - about the thing I have now is they actually appreciate experience, expertise, and old people!  They understand the fact that if all you hire is a bunch of half-price newbies right out of school, the core competency drops like a rock.  No continuity.  Unlike so many companies in town....

Biggest frustration is how much is going on in the northern states right now, compared to northeast OK.  Been recruited repeatedly, but I really don't like living full time in snow!!  Want to get out of OK winter, not go to deeper winter!

It was good not great.  A good friend in Dallas is a huge fan of theirs.  Their albums are like rock operas so if you don't know the story it can be hard to listen to.

Queensryche, when they were touring for "Operation: Mindcrime".  That was an exceptional show.

Scott Rockenfield....Scott Rockenfield....
The name just rolls off the tongue rhythmically... kind of like saying "Mufasa" from "The Lion King".... or Johnny Rockets....

Looks like they are having "issues" - now the question is, which Queensryche is the one to see if either of them comes to town...?

The one that includes Chris DeGarmo.  So, neither.

I went to the Civic Center (remember that) and saw Mindcrime. What a show of the band in their prime. (me too)
This new incarnation without Geoff Tate is.....Well what's the point?

Heir, if you like Coheed and Cambria I also recommend The Mars Volta, start with: "Since We've Been Wrong", very Led.

Interesting. That song took me back to the day's of velvet black light posters, tripping, incense and peace of mind book store.
I didn't know that style of music was still around. I suddenly want to hear it on a Hi Fi Vinyl record.

Wow. And I thought that I was a huge KISS fan. I have never heard of this album, and after hearing that song.
No wonder Ace left. And this was Eric Carr's first album with them? I can't believe he stuck around.
I'm also shocked that Bob Ezrin produced that.
I can just hear that being played at The Castle in Muskogee's Renaissance Fair.

That's just a taste...there is heavier stuff on the album. It's one of those albums that people say is a good album, just not a good KISS album. I have always enjoyed it.
A few of the heavier songs:
