Several Injured In Ride Mishaps At Tulsa State Fair

Tulsa - Several people were injured Saturday in two separate accidents on two different rides at the Tulsa State Fair.

The first happened on one of the kiddie rides called the Zyclone when one of the rides' cars hit another car. The Tulsa County Sheriff's Department says five people were hurt and three were transported by EMSA to the hospital.

We're told there was also another accident, but details remain unclear. We do know one person was transported to the hospital.

The incidents are under investigation by the state Department of Labor.

Looks like Tulsa's Fair this year is more like an "UnFair" if ya'll ask me. Everyone has complaints about it.. Back when I lived in Texas they had a bad ride accident at the Texas State Fair- (I think it was back in 1982 or somewhere around that time)and it killed some people, a car flew off the ride going at full speed, I think it was latter found that a nut came off from a bolt holding the car on/ or cracks of a bracket. It was pretty serious some people on the ground got hurt by flying parts as I recall.

Well, so much for inspections....

I wasn't impressed. The best part is the concerts. If you don't go to see those then there is really no reason to go at all.

If you go after 5pm be ready to walk a long way or plan to catch a bus ride. Parking on location is not happening.

Sounds like you found the Beer Gardens. [^]

btw......does anyone know if the No Smoking rule for county property that started today, holds true at the Fair Grounds?

Since we got rid of that old hometown carnival that was known as Bell's for three generations, now everyone is airing up the wheel on their wheelbarrows to help the new carnival push all of the hundreds of thousands of dollars outside the city as quickly as possible when the fair is over.

The county does not relate to homegrown businesses and the city hall is moving into "No mans land", creating a future traffic jam, to discourage any locals from conducting business.

I heard that the parents of the kids that got hurt called Murphy Bros. and they said , "Just send us the bills"

No we're sorry - nothing. Turns out it was operator error.

I have to wonder at the lack of concern. Is this something that happens so often with this carnival that it no longer gets to them?

Might be indifference, might be their attorney has advised them to say nothing more in such instances.
