Pro-illegals sue to try to remove the state's anti-illegal immigration law.

Local Hispanic leaders have announced plans to announce a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the state's new immigration law.

House Bill 1804, the Taxpayers and Citizens Protection Act, is due to go into effect Nov. 1. It would make it a felony to transport, conceal or shelter an undocumented immigrant from detection. It also prevents illegal immigrants from getting jobs and public assistance.

Just another frivolous lawsuit.

If it has merit, I'm curious why they waited until now?  It's not like passage of this bill  just happened last week.

Leaving Oklahoma in droves and taking their money and labor with them.  We are going to have to pull a bunch of old White guys out of retirement to pick up the slack.  What's that, old White guy has gone on to his reward?  How are our Legislators at stoop labor and roof work?

Living in Kansas would be tough. I think I would rather live in Mexico.

Did you know that every bug in the world goes to Kansas on their vacation? I think they also fly windshield high.

One good thing for the statistics though. It may cause the price of new homes to go up. Its already difficult to find good workers. This could cause pressure on labor prices and cause them to go up as well. None of that may hurt us any in the national scheme of things. But may make us a tiny bit less affordable and attractive than we are now regionally.

I am not too concerned about the lower skilled and lower end of the labor force. I would rather focus on getting more skilled labor and higher paying jobs here. They can afford higher prices and with the way people are still building homes in Tulsa I dont think even a moderate price increase will have much of an effect.

If developers have to pay real wages, taxes and benefits, then most of the change will be to their profit margins, not the 'value' of a home, which is market based.

And, in that light, perhaps they wouldn't have so much extra money to run political campaigns to enrich themselves further with new public funded projects.

There, I said it.

They seem to have plenty of money to throw around in campaigns, they can use that money to pay living wages and benefits to attract the workers they need.
