Post by: breitee on July 24, 2007, 02:08:27 PM
Anybody else sick of hearing about and seeing this on KOTV?

Low-rent Idol- yeehaw.

Is the actual show worse than the stupid promos?  I don't see how it could be much worse.

I watch very little local programming.  I catch "Sick In The Morning" every now and then whilst getting ready for work but not lately.

I was tired of it with the first commercial. The again, most programming and promos on channel 6 seem focused on making you remembering by annoying you.

I think what annoys me the most about it (other than the no talent yokels that they feature) is the word "Gimme" which makes it sound so back woods and ignorant.

I wonder if they will ever use footage of the crashing helicopter in a promo.

"Channel 6.  Hardcore reality."

"Channel 6.  We'll go down trying to get the news for you."

"Channel 6.  We don't just report the news. Occasionally, we go to stupid lengths to create it."

I feel a tongue-lashing from Tytan coming on.

What I don't understand is all the awesome talent we have in town and KOTV can't find away to get these people on their show.

One can only ask Rick Wells......"Hey, What's The Deal?"

i would pay undetermined sums of money to acquire that footage and see it on Youtube.  It would be almost as good as the Channel 2 Newsroom cussfest. "Channel 2 Works For You god dammit mother****er!!!!  it brings me great glee to see the whitewashed castles of the local news media to come crashing down every once in a while.

I avoid the stupidity of KOTV commercials by not watching Channel Sux.

I was raised a proper KTUL kid.

Shouldn't it be Gimme the Mic?

The other name makes it sound like an adult video...

Apparently there are other cities where this (//%22http://www.click2houston.com/entertainment/4978144/detail.html%22) same (//%22http://www.wsyx6.com/sections/contests/gimme/index.shtml%22) abomination (//%22http://www.wsbtv.com/gimmethemike/index.html%22) is being unleashed...even the same logos.

I did watch their final show and the talent was much better than last year.

Using their rating scale of 1 to 10, I gave their final show of the year 2 for production, 5 for talent and a 5 for the judges efforts. So a 4 will be my overall vote for them this year.

Hopefully next year they will have it at the Cherokee Casino where the atmosphere is much better than the Cains Ballroom, who are too cheap to turn the lights on.

With regards to today's Auditions held at Woodland Hills Mall. That's Saturday the 12th of 2008, they had an enormous crowd show up. The two lines of contestants auditioning for the show well, there was one line very long and the other line was ummm...shall we say, much much longer..!
Many very talented singers showed up and got before the Cameras. It was so well supported and I was proud of that too.
I had given it some thought to audition myself, however, I would have needed to pitch a tent the night before in order to find a place in line. Good job KOTV 6...!

Since coming back, I gotta say that KOTV Channel 6 just does not do it for me.

Channel 6: "it'll make you puke!"

Channel 6: "it ain't easy being cheesy"

Well, you get the idea. I do like kjrh and Fox23 up to a point, and as for ktul, well, it could be worse I suppose.

My family and I made the mistake of going to the mall when the Mike Madness was going on (we didn't know it was going on since we don't watch KOTV that much). People were ruthless who were standing in line. They would hardly let the mall patrons through (heaven for bid we would cut in line for such a swell event). I couldn't believe the number of people who were there with their INFANT children standing in line. It was ridiculous.

Just goes to show what a bunch of country bumpkins will do to get a chance to be on TV.

Gimme the Mike? Give me a BREAK!

They should just push it to the edge and introduce a show called "Hey Ya'll Watch This."

Could be everything from jumping off buildings to drinking anti-freeze.

I don't watch any local programming any more.  I used to like it when the news took issues head on, like confronting city officials about problems or waste, or brought attention to the madness that surrounds us.  But now it's just soft background noise.

Rick Wells had a great thing going in his "what's the deal" series.
