I am proposing that we have our next open-to-anybody-who-is-a-poster lunch on Thursday, July 19th.
We have discussed many places, including McNellie's, downtown Mazzio's, Blue Dome Cafe, What-a-Burger...
Any other suggestions?
Didn't waste any time posting this after figuring out you've got a comp coming from another forum member. [;)]
Damn it, I'm going to make it this month. It's my goal. It's good to have goals.
I think I can actually make this one too.
I will signal the way with my iphone in a "Masters of the universe" kinda way...

I get that alot.
I'm in - and bringing MY iphone, too!!!
Now - where we gonna eat? Where's the best chicken fried steak in town? That sounds really good.
I like the chicken fried steak at Caz's, but we went there already.
How about the Ron's Hamburgers at 15th and Denver?
I have not been to this location before, but it is roomy and easy for us to hang there for a while and talk.
It also has the Sausage cheeseburger and fries that inspire greatness.
What time on Thursday July 19th ?
Ron's on 15th & Denver is one of the better ones. Ron's son Mike, who ran the 21st and Garnett location owns the one downtown. Ron's sounds like the plan. Cheeseburger Steak there comes with Fries and Cole Slaw and Texas Toast.

As far as Chicken Fried Steaks go, Bros Hulligan on 15th street has a pretty good one, if you can ever get in there.

On Monday's JJ's Gourmet Burgers location in the old Tulsa Rubicon Head shop around 6th & Peoria used to be open for private lunches. Jimmy Jones Welding supply was the client. Not sure what the agenda there is now, but may consider it for future use. Burgers a little pricey, but he uses top quality Rib Eye meat and they are grilled/smoked to perfection. Remember to park behind the building, come in thru the alley East 1/2 block off Peoria.

Comfortably turning customers away: J.J.'s Gourmet Cafe in Tulsa
Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Nov 13, 2006 by Kirby Lee Davis
With business simmering as hot as his burgers, Jerry J. Conley decided to stop advertising his J.J.'s Gourmet Cafe. He dropped his telephone service. He refused to accept checks or credit cards. He required membership before allowing anyone through the doors. He dropped his operating hours to a mere eight a week.
And still customers keep coming, as they have for 37 years - often in defiance of the deteriorating neighborhood that surrounded his 647 S. Peoria restaurant.
"To be so defined in your business approach," marveled Becky J. Frank, president and chief executive of Schnake Turnbo Frank Inc. of Tulsa, chuckling at Conley's containment efforts. "But he has a thing that's just working for them and it has for years."
That "thing" seems to be customer infatuation, translated to strong word-of-mouth.
"I didn't even know about it before I got invited there by a friend," said Damen Banks, who operates the Tulsa office of Swahill Studios.
"Steve Turnbo introduced me," Rex Public Relations client relations manager Donna Laughlin said of her first visit to J.J.'s.
"A client invited me there six years ago," said M. Jake Dollarhide, chief executive of the Tulsa firm Longbow Asset Management Co. He spoke for everyone when he added, "It's just a great place. A good burger."
J.J.'s specialty - indeed, just about its only product - is its rib-eye hamburger. The 68-year-old Conley offers several variations, all listed at $10.95.
I would say get there no later than 11:30. Especially if you plan on parking.
I've been killing myself one hamburger at a time for over 40 years, what's one more?
Hmmm...I could actually walk up there. That might not be a bad idea.
I'm down as a maybe.
Sounds good!
Anyone on the list at JJ's? [;)]
Our next TulsaNow lunch is this Thursday. I changed the topic title to reflect the date.
Our location is the Ron's Hamburgers at 15th and Denver downtown. It is very easy to get to from many different points and you can avoid all the downtown road construction.
Who is in? I want to put together seating for enough folk, but we have always been able to throw in a few extra chairs.
I will get to Ron's at 11:30 but can't stay as long as I had hoped. At some point, I have to leave and go to a meeting.
It is my goal to get there. Again.
However, I'm taking a half day off of work on Friday so I may not be able to swing it. Again.
Really I just dont want to show up and disclose that I am really small Asian man dressed like Santa...

Okay, I'm really not a poster, more like a large mural, am I still invited?
If you're a large mural, I must be one of those signs towed behind an airplane.
My baby pictures were poster-sized.
I was a big kid. My birthday is June, July and August.
Sign me on as "likely."
I'm still ticked that I couldn't attend the one at the Knotty Pine, especially since I was the one who suggested it.
But pressing home improvement projects (oft-delayed by the rain, of course) took precedence.
I'll be there -
unless something strange happens - like sgrizzle leaving his iphone home - or alien abduction - or the medians getting mowed...
I'll have to beg off. Something's come up.
I'll be there, dressed to match Double A's avatar. I can yell at RecycleMichael if anyone wants me to do the full impression.
I will be there to pay up on my bet with RM.
I guess I'm going to have to quit going to the TN lunches, I keep embarrassing you guys. We had the pepper spray incident at Napoli's and then there was today.
Being led over to the pawn shop next door by the manager at Ron's was humiliating. How could I have known that Recyclemichael would order every last thing on the menu? That lunch cost me my watch, wedding band, and eye glasses. Sgrizzle and Restored, I appreciated the offer of a short-term loan, but you didn't figure my tab was $221.87, neither did I.
Last bet I ever get into with RM.
I can't believe that guy bought your broken "happy meal" watch.
The hamburglar's arms said it is always 6:30
