Post by: PonderInc on June 26, 2007, 04:56:03 PM
If you haven't made it to one of the various meetings to learn about the update of the Comprehensive Plan, this is your chance.

TulsaNow General Meeting
Thurs, June 28 6:00 PM
Assembly Room #2, Central Center at Centennial Park
1028 E. 6th Street (6th and Peoria)

Representatives from the Planning Department will be on hand to describe the Comp Plan Update project, and receive your input on what matters most to you.

If you can't make it to the meeting, be sure to complete the "What Do You Think" survey http://www.cityoftulsa.org/Community/Planning/CompPlan/Survey.asp

See you there!

I am raring to go.

My grandfather always said "if it's a stupid idea nad it works, it ain't stupid."

I have lived my life by this and can't wait to tell some of my ideas to the planners.

The first idea I want to share at tonight's meeting is about traffic.

My theory is that ever since we built the interstate highway system, the number of tornadoes has been going up. I think it is because we are making counter clockwise swirls of air by cars passing each other.

I suggest that we drive on the left side of the road while in the city limits of Tulsa. That will create a reverse wind that will protect our homes.

I still need to figure out how we make the switch to the other side when we reach the suburbs.

The Central Center is on 6th Street between Madison and Norfolk (across from the VFW building).  See you there!

Thanks to everyone who braved the weather to make it to the TN meeting.  Pat and Theron from the Planning Dept burned up a couple markers trying to keep up with all the suggestions / comments.  Comments will be posted on the Comp Plan website in the near future.

As the process moves forward, expect TulsaNow to continue holding meetings that will help keep the community involved.

You are welcome.  I enjoyed the session.  Yes, we kept Pat and Theron very busy.  There were many comments, but as of today, I haven't seen a list posted to the City's website yet.

I think TulsaNow needs to follow up with Pat and Theron about getting our comments posted.

It usually takes them awhile to get them typed up and organized.

For those who haven't checked out the website in a while, the Request for Proposal went out last Monday:

http://www.cityoftulsa.org/Community/Planning/CompPlan/rfp.asp

You can read the request, as well as the exhaustive list of all the various plans (neighborhood, downtown, transportation, etc....) currently in existence.  The deadline for submitting bids is Sept. 26th.

The comments (//%22http://www.cityoftulsa.org/Community/Planning/CompPlan/documents/TulsaNowFeedback.pdf%22) have been posted.

As I remember, the comment in 74, was about having sunsets for boards, authorities, and commissions -- to re-evaluate their purpose.

I am impressed that the general membership of TulsaNow was able to articulate so many concerns and solutions.

I especially like that the sixth most pressing concern was not having wine/strong beer sales in grocery stores.
