"Tulsa ranks as the No. 62 broadcast market in the United States. From a media standpoint, that's pretty much the bottom rung -- at least among towns that boast a freeway and a few multistoried buildings."

I thought the bottom rung was about 150.

You seem a little sensitive. Was there some untruth in his blog that I missed? Yes, we are a small market and the local news staff seem more interested in 34DD Doppler technology and their own self branding than well documented hard news. I've seen lots of low quality reporting of half truths, mis-spellings, mis-leading blurbs and such. No different than any other local TV station in any market. The real clueless jackasses were the analysts who picked up a line on a small market web site and blew it out of proportion without checking its veracity.
I guess I'm different then most folks because I could care less about a news station for entertainment. All I want to hear is the news so I can get on my way.

I found the blogger's comments about Tulsa to be condescending and ignorant, kind of like the people who used to say OKC was too "podunk" to support an NBA team.
There is no question that local news outlets make plenty of mistakes, but if the error had been made by a Top 20 market station the story would have been given a totally different spin.
I don't think this was "ABOUT" Tulsa. He was trying to point out how ridiculous it is that oil prices jumped due to one of our TV stations websites having an erroneous report. To make his point, he of course is going to point out how small our market it is, which is not a lie. He wasn't attacking the town he was attacking the rise in oil prices.
Here is how media market goes market 1-25 is major market 26-75 is large market 76-100 medium market 101-150 is small market anything past 150 does not have a market size. Tulsa is a metered market there are only 55 metered markets in the US. So at NO.62 Tulsa is a large TV market. By the way cable tv does not have a market size. Now you know about the Tulsa TV market.
