Help bring the fun and inspiration of the Art Smart Show to kids of all ages. This show highlights the importance of art and creativity in daily life through a fun filled one-hour performance and activity session.
The play follows the adventures of the young artist Squiggles and her mentor the Professor as they learn to use creativity in everyday life. The voices of the Professor and Squiggles are pre-recorded scripts with live audience interaction from the narrator. Props are used by actors to exaggerate the play's learning objectives.
During the performance, which incorporates music, humor and audience participation, Squiggles and the Professor demonstrate that using both heart and mind are important to making art. Participants will have the time of their lives' as they sing, draw and clap their way through important art issues such as communication, emotion and elements like color, light and line.
After the show, participants take a tour of Oklahoma's oldest stained glass studio, Tulsa Stained Glass, where windows for the new Saint Francis Children's Hospital are currently under construction. Putting their ideas into action, they leave with their activity book, a hands-on project made in the Art Play Center and the drive to put their creativity to use daily.
All tickets are sold in advance to adjust for maximum attendance. Performances begin June 1 and are scheduled for Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 9:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Evening performances are slated for Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.
Art Smart is an original play created by Richard Bohm, founder of Tulsa Stained Glass and the Art Play Center in Tulsa.
