Evening!
I need to complete my senior project at TU in Arts Management. I have an idea and thought I would bounce the idea of the great minds here at TulsaNow. Considering how many artists have composed music over the years that incorporated "Tulsa" into them, I thought it might be a grand idea to have a benefit event where a nonprofit organization asks ensembles of all genres to commission a piece of music that would incorporate "Tulsa" into the composition.
There would be a concert event for the finalists where the money raised would go to support said organization. A cash prize will be offered to the top three groups.
Any ideas, thought theories would be greatly appreciated!
My advice: narrow your focus and find a few good related catagories of music... do you go folk/country/bluegrass/western swing or pop/rock or soul/r&b or modern classical???
Take out a few small ads in good trade magazines... team up with a small indie label (or two) as a sponsor...
Since you're in arts management, note how many national foundations have given money to similar projects and where they'd fit in with yours...
This nerdy guy started with nothing but a buncha pipedreams when I met him...(okay, guess it could help if your mom's a Supreme Court justice... just not sure how.)
