Title: Next Lunch?
Post by: sgrizzle on April 22, 2007, 07:54:14 PM
RM owes a few of us anyway, so where are we going?

The Brook?
Crow Creek Tavern?
McNellies?
Kilkenny's?
Las Americas?
Ollie's Station? (Who doesn't love trains?)
Suggestions?

How about 4/26?

I still have a few hours left on Earth Day...VP Cheney could still resign for some reason...

I actually think that they threw Attorney General Gonzalez under the bus as a distraction...

I could do lunch on Tuesday, May 1st.

Why don't we go to Pomodori's so Sgrizzle can buy my lunch and I can pay up for the rest of you guys. They have excellent lunch pizzas and pasta dishes under $10. We can go there and check the progress of the arena. Maybe even Vision Builders will let us in to see the mock up luxury box next door.

Another menu choice to have lunch with you guys is a local bar-b-que spot. I think Knotty Pine fits us well, but we could do Wilson's, Rib Crib or Billy Ray's.

Pomodoris is good, we can go say hi to a couple of other occasionally posters across the street. I can buy RM lunch and he can buy mine. Eases the pain a bit that way.

As a recipient of one of these lunches, I think Flemming's would be a suitable destination. [;)]

or QT hotdogs, whatever.

No Fodder.

I am ordering for you. I hope you like cold water, free bread and a mint on the way out the door.

Just kidding. Anything on the lunch menu and no liquor (it's not that I am afraid of being around drunks, it is just that people easily agree with me, especially when they have been drinking).

Nah, I get even more conservative when I drink...

Speaking of Pomodori's, I guess they gave Camarelli's the big send-off last night.

A place I liked going to when I still lived in the Tulsa Area was Saigon Palace on 21st and Garnett, though I know not if they are still there. Are they?

It's a shame that they closed down the 15th Street Wok. That was a great place. Didn't get much business, but good food.

No-one will ever accuse inteller of owning rose-colored glasses.

In fact, it was one of the last places I had dinner out before I left T-Town.

Haven't eaten there yet... have eaten a couple of times at the chinese buffet next door to the supermarket...

Tulsa Police are investigating a shooting at 19th and Garnett. Police say it happened shortly after midnight Sunday at Saigon Palace. The restuarant wasn't open to the public, but had been reserved for a private party.

Police officers say a fight started inside the restaurant and when it spilled outside, someone pulled a gun. Police found nine shell casings at the scene.

Tulsa Police say one person was shot in the hand, another had a cut across his stomach. The News On 6 is told both victims are going to be okay.

One tragedy doesn't make that area any less safe than midtown...

Oh, the only way I allow somebody to buy me lunch is if I sing for it... I'll be there, though.

Nine shell casings, and only one wound to a hand.  Someone is a crummy shot. [:O]

So are we going?

I will be at Pomodor's at noon on Tuesday.

I can't get there any earlier because I am teaching a class on the shot put at our adopt-a-school.

I owe cannon fodder, conan71 and sgrizzle lunch so if you guys show, I'm buying. The rest of you will have to find another way to get me to buy your lunch next time.

We need a head count.

I forgot what day it was.

I tried to go yesterday and forgot to go today.

You were missed.

The best part of the lunch was when USRufnex sang Happy Birthday to that crowd of lunch-goers in the next room. I have no idea that he had an opera career in an earlier life, but he still has the pipes.

Does anyone know who they were? There was a Highway Patrol car outside and the people next to us never took off their sunglasses. I assumed they were secret service...so the birthday girl must have been someone important.

I don't have a clue, she sure looked like Kim Henry, but yes, USR stole the show at lunch.  Great Job!

Give it up Rufnex...tell us about your singing history...

And no lies...just because waterby and I were spinning yarns during lunch doesn't give you the option to do it.

Really, where have you sung before?

well, let's see... once sang Scarpia in Puccini's Tosca at Opera de Lafayette...

France?  No.  Quebec, maybe?... nope.
Lafayette, Indiana.  [8D]

Hey, you've been a great audience... tip your waiters... and try the veal. [:P]

I'm sorry I was not able to attend... I'm closing on a property and had to deal with that over my lunch. Argh.

Yeah well, two of your units have been over across the street from my shop all day.  So you've been here in spirit.

I'm glad I went, finally met Waterboy, and he did say I do look just like a strict constructionist. [;)]  USR brought in Tulsa Roughnecks media guides from the early '80's that were a great memory trip.  I'd forgotten some of those guys looked like cast members from "Slap Shot". [}:)]

Great conversation.  I'd say as always, but I've only been to one other TN lunch.  You guys might be total mutes when I'm not around.

Oh yeah, almost forgot some man was handing out free trees out on the sidewalk after lunch.  You guys really missed out.

I can hear the conversation at home tonight:

"You mean you went to lunch, got it paid for over a bet on Earth Day, then got free trees???  You haven't been smoking any funny little green trees with buds have you???" [8D]

The best part was, the bet was over someone would die or not.  Or was it that he would just be ousted from office?  Either way.

How pissed would you have been if he survived past Earth Day and then died IN Tulsa a week later.  Actually, its kind of too bad he wasnt assassinated so we could get a little tourism out of the deal while garnering some sympathy for an unpopular administration.  Killing two birds with one stone , pun intended.

I wonder if he would be remembered as fondly as Kennedy?

Anyway, I'll try dang hard to make it to the next one.  I'm usually strapped for time.  Damn life always getting in the way.
