OKLAHOMA CITY -- Corporation Commissioner Denise Bode announced her resignation, effective May 31, on Friday. Bode will take a job with the Washignton D.C.-based Clear Skies Foundation. One of the foundation's founders is Chesapeake Energy, a company regulated by the corporation commission, Bode said Friday at a state capitol press confernce.

Gov. Brad Henry will appoint Bode's successor.

Body has served on the three-member commission, which regulates utilites and petroleum drillers, since 1997. Henry issued a press release thanking Bode for her work on the commission and promising to move quickly to appoint a successor.

She was one of the top three or four most powerful women in our state. I don't know who the Governor will appoint, but it is a great opportunity.
