A group called the Inhofe Victory committee is putting on a luncheon at the downtown Doubletree Hotel on April 27th. $250 a plate and $2,000 gets you a picture with the Vice-President before lunch.
I would go, but that is too much for even me to spend on lunch. It is also in the middle of our Earth Events calendar, just a few days after Earth Day.
I hope that the Senator and the Vice-President make wonderful remarks about the environment, especially since they are having the event at a place with "tree" in it's name.
Maybe they're competing against each other for the stupidest, most incomprehensible remarks. Both of 'em are Olympic-caliber at that.
Personal attack removed
I see .... so if you stand up and speak the truth that global warming is false, that suddenly makes you arrogant?
Neither of them have anything against the environment. We just know the facts, the real facts, and global warming is a hoax. We also believe in a higher power, the all powerful Jesus Christ and we know he controls the world, not Al Gore.

would this be anything like "The Math" Karl Rove referenced when he was predicting defeat for the Democrats.........?
Please limit discussion to Inhofe, Cheney, and lunch. Do not attack the views of other board members unless they happen to be Inhofe or Cheney. Jesus and Global Warming allowed where applicable.

I would advise would-be protestors what happens when the Veep comes to town: a fellow I work with was working at the Radison and had the temerity to stand outside and wait for the motorcade to swing by, he was detained by the SS until after the cars went by.
And who could forget the dangerous terrorist who was arrested (//%22http://www.progressive.org/mag_mc100406?cheney%22) after smarting off to His Royal Highness?
So be afraid, be very, very afraid...
I like it when people sue law enforcement officers for following orders.
Yeah, I'm sure his account of the story is...how should I say...less than the whole truth.
I hear that there is a alternative luncheon planned for that same day.
Instead of $250.00 for lunch with the Vice-President, you pay $2.50 and they give you a bologna sandwich.
I gotta go with the cheaper bologna.
I heard they are having a raffle. Winner can choose a sight-seeing flight with Sen. Inhoffe or a hunting trip with Vice President Cheney.

Even cheaper, aren't you buying lunch if Cheney is VP on earth day?
Has Mr. Cheney ever been to the Center of the Universe?
Protest time!
Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and Cheney will go hunting with Inhofe while he's in town?
so apparently someone bashing cheney and inhofe is fine and someone putting "cubs" in flames is okay, but i cant make a silly joke?
While using flaming text is not in itself bad, cubs personal views on Karl Rove is a bit off-topic.

I suppose we will see, huh? Just when I hear firsthand from someone who was detained for merely watching the motorcade it sort of resonates.
I like it when law enforcement officers show their spines and refuse to obey wanna-be dictators.
Maybe I'm shallow but I can imagine that if I was told to go give someone a hard time and my entire career and livelihood depended on it, I'd probably do it.
Although the individual's accounts are "I made my statement and walked away" the secret service looks for any fast movement towards/away and other suspicious activity. There are dozens of things he could've done that would be considered "an attack" that a normal citizen wouldn't consider.

Oh knows! So if we believe in Jesus, that means we can trash the planet? It seems to me that God left us in charge of the environment, and we haven't been good stewards.
This is why Hummers are known in liberal corners as "Rapturistmobiles."
The belief that God will save us from an environment catastrophe is not a healthy view. The Bible actually says we reap what we sow.
And Inhofe sounds like he is again keeping himself in bad company. Sad to hear of this. That guy no longer represents Oklahoma in my book, just the Republican party.
Look, Brigharm Young students do not want Cheney to visit! (//%22http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/324450,CST-NWS-byu03.article%22)
Tulsans are lamer than BYU students? What!
I'm not sure Cheney has a whole lot of fans left outside of Tulsa. Even his party has done everything possible to create some distance between themselves and him. I go into offices here in town and I see a picture of Cheney prominently displayed and I think, oh Tulsa, we have a lot of work to do.
Earth to Tulsa: You don't celebrate a failed politician who has brought your party to its knees.

The last time I checked he's still the VP...I assume by "failed" you mean "not liberal"
My friend Iplaw! How have you been?
No I was thinking more along the lines of
primary proponent of disastrous elective war
violating international treaties that we authored
torture
dirty tricks (ask Scooter)
politics of division (running two campaigns on hatred of homosexuals) when his daughter ...
his pal Halliburton raiding the treasury
his shadow presidency
his administration bringing our country to the brink
every last innocent life that he has helped squander
Just more of the same old tired tripe Hometown? Why not just direct me to theworldcantwait or moveon.org? It would have saved you some time and effort.

Thats the only retort the long-winded lawyer can muster?
Yes. Responding to Hometown is like pissing in the wind.
When you guys resort to personal name-calling...good threads die.

Anybody protesting?

Maybe just this post gets deleted.

What you and your chicken-mohawk buddies are going to be throwing gum wrappers at the veeps limo? I can't wait to hear how his response to your taunts from 1/4 of a mile away is going to expose the troof on WTC.
Now is it thermate or thermite?
I think it was Kryptonite
Just keep the firearms away from Dick, since he doesn't know how to use them safely.
That could be a metaphor for other things, but I'm tired this morning. I'll pass.

I guess they're eating "baloney" sandwiches today outside the Doubletree!
Channel 6 news is reporting this on their website.

Hmmm, I like the Star Wars reference. Cheney obviously would be Darth Vader, but what about Inhofe?
I'm thinking he's best summed up by this guy:
There are almost more cops than civilians downtown right now. Kinda nuts.
My buddy works at the "Law Building" right next to the Double Tree. He is also a foreign citizen with a middle Eastern complexion (Armenian). He arrives at mid day and works into the night because of an odd scheduling problem.
He says he has been getting the stink eye from standers by for weeks and now he is certain they are watching him in his office. I figure he gets a free trip down the goulag for being an Arab looking foreigner near Dick Cheney.
[^]
Woo hoo, the Dick is here. [:P]
I wonder if Dick felt all the potholes in the streets going to downtown.

I know that I stick up for Cheney around here, but this was just too much today. I hope Alt was okay. Those cops should be fired!

The video is great I enjoyed watching the white bunny/puppy arrested. Someone should also let them know that making signs on their chest with a white background should have dark letters. As it is, it just looks like they forgot to write anything on them.
I was there with a sign that said 'Inhofe Is A Bum' and my buddy wore a rainbow shirt and had a sign that said 'I (heart) DICK'.
We got a two person chant going...
'Who's got my tax cut? WHO! WHO WHO WHO!' as the fancies were walking out.
I yelled other stuff, but I'm an obnoxious a**hole, nothing new there.
Not many people there besides us harassers and the 9/11 conspiracy theorist.
The Spanish TV station Menudotv (I butchered this name) wasn't given a media pass because they were not considered credible and were reported to the Secret Service by Kim Fuller the guy said. That was interesting.
Why would you name your TV station after a soup made of boiling-hot pig guts?

Menudo made Ricky Martin famous.
Hmmm. Comparing Menudo, a soup of boiling-hot pig guts to Ricky Martin, a bag of boiling-hot pig guts. I can't say I disagree.

Every tried it? It's great for hangovers!! [;)]
I wasn't able to go today but I gave him the finger when he flew over.
Having just vowed to not be caught dead in DT carrying a sign - I had resigned myself to staying home.
Dick's a different kinda Bimbo. Not my thing.
However, I did sit on the front stoop and watch dark cars drive slowly past - ALL MORNING LONG.
Dudes inside wearing dark glasses.
What a waste of money, they could have just tapped into the GPS signal from my ankle bracelet to keep tabs on me.
Buttholes, here's hoping Jesus gives 'em the ole "what for" someday.
Show me the Baloney!

The police were actually pretty nice. Besides arresting an old lady for trying to walk across the street. They did talk with me and seemed interested and took some DVDs. I also talked to a Fed and some other SS dude...I think they were just trying to build a profile on our group. Anywho they took DVDs too. Then afterwards we talked to the guys that were contracted to film us, they both took DVDs also. Productive day if I do say so myself. Hopefully one of them will watch it and a light will go off in their head.
I wish they would try the same protest in Iraq....
