Tulsa County will purchase the building that Tulsa City has been in negotiations to buy for a new city hall. The purchase price has not been disclosed, but it was rumored to be substantially more than the city was offering.
County Commissioners did not comment on the sale other than to say that they would consider renting the building to city administration.
The county plans to pay for the building by adding another three cent sales tax to purchases on all sales inside the city limits of Tulsa. Rational included that this would help spur development of unincorporated areas of Tulsa County.

I believed this up until the "three cent sales tax" then I knew it was April Fools. Nice one, though!
Same here, had me until the 3 cent sales tax.
What's that I see in the distance? A line of traffic backed up for miles, heading to the newly completed Indian. Also, if I'm not mistaken - it is a host of events filing the roster at the new arena and holy crap, a new hotel going in next door.
and crime is down too.
Someone pass me the needle-nose pliers, I need to yank a hook out of my mouth. [:P]
I actually fell for this one. It was so believable.
But I so badly wish the County would buy WilTel just to spite the City, forcing the City to do something different to abandon their dump by the new arena.
I almost fell for it. I figured they would buy the building, get the Tulsa County people to vote for a huge tax package to fix it up before Randi miller allowed the City of Tulsa to annex it and make it their new City building at our expense.
kinda like the Fair grounds. [}:)]
