Title: Eskimo Joe's on Food Network tonight

Blech -- never known a restaurant that rides on the coattails of its cheese fries. Joe's is a disappointment as it stands now. Started out cool as a bar, okay as a burger joint and now it's just a sad tourist attraction. Last time I ate there --- about three or four years ago --- I got sick as a dog. Bad burgers. The cheese fries were also pathetic. Used to get a huge pile you couldn't eat by yourself, now it's a little handful of fries with some greasy cheese half melted on top.

I've had nothing but good experiences there. Blackened Chicken Cheese Fries will feed a family of four for like $4.99.

I like Joe's, but really, it is not worth a special trip out there or anything.

On the same note, White River Fish Market is featured in this month's (March 2007) edition of Gourmet magazine.

It's in stillwater, oklahoma. It was ranked the #3 sports bar nationally and, at least one time, had the second most popular clothing logo (1st is hard rock) in the nation.

Their cheese fries have been mentioned in two different presidential commencement speeches.

joe's is not about the food, but I think the food is good. It's about the memories you make while in college there. It holds a special place in my heart and the I take the family there a few times a year for a burger.

The food is good and aimed towards college students. The owner doesn't pretend joe's is Le Cirqe, he keeps it fun, and keeps the prices low.

The episode was pretty complimentary, talking about their national reputation and their cheese fries. Also mentioned that the clothes business far outsells the restaurant and has made millions.

It wasn't on the show but one of the top bands in Australia is named after the place.

The only reason they sell food and clothes is because of a law passed in the 80's requiring that no bar can be located within a certain distance of school (or possibly other govt entity). Joe's had to get their beer/liquor sales below 50% of total sales to avoid shutting down or moving.

I was there just a couple of weeks ago and it was still good. Reminded me of my college days, and nights, spent there.

They had shirts when the bar opened.

They began selling food when the drinking age went from 18-21. Since most college people are 18-22, this put a serious pinch on their number of patrons.
