Title: What did I miss? Flags at half staff today?
Post by: AngieB on March 20, 2007, 05:55:11 PM
Noticed on my way home this evening that the giant flags at the car dealerships west of the river were flying at half staff. I searched online and didn't find anything about it.

Anybody know?

They had to put VP Cheney back into the hospital today. Most likely it was just wishful thinking. [}:)]

Sorry for the death of their friend, but isn't that improper flag etiquitte?  I thought only the President could authorize the U.S. flag to be flown at half-staff.

I believe the Governor can also order flags to fly at half mast in their own state.

I thought only the President can authorize the U.S. flag at half-staff; the governor can authorize the state flag at half-staff.  If it is a private/business logo type flag, the owner can do whatever he wants.
