Title: St. Paddy's Day!
Post by: Ed W on March 15, 2007, 07:02:29 PM
Please tell me that none of you are planning to drink that wretched green beer this weekend!  Have a Harp or a Guinness, or even a shot of Jameson's.

TPD announced extra patrols this weekend too.  Have one for those brave lads.

I may watch The Quiet Man and get loudly drunk....but I'm not driving anywhere.

Today's Tulsa World says to expect 20,000 people.  Can you say 'drunk fest'?

I went so that I could take photos of actual, real-life people having fun in (gasp!) downtown:

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay long and was only able to take a few shots that turned out (no tripod! [xx(])

It was really nice to see people enjoying downtown.  For a moment, it made me feel like downtown was alive and wide awake.  It's getting there...

I sure don't see 20,000 people there.

Considering the two photos were taken of one corner of one intersection, which only shows a small portion of ONE of the THREE tent complexes set up over two blocks...

yeah, there aren't 20,000 people standing on the same corner at the exact same time. That would be a neat trick, to fit twice the capacity of Drillers Stadium into a 30' x 30' area.

I didnt make it downtown [:(]

It was in the plans, but my wife, dogs and I started on brookside and made it to Empire by 4pm.  By 9pm the Jameson's, Irish Car Bombs and Guinness had pretty well spelled the end of my Irish wife and I took her home.

Who invented a holiday for Irish to get drunk?  This seemed like a good idea?   [;)]

Car bombs?  Quite a gal you got there.  I've had my run-in's with car bombs. [xx(]

I generally stay close to home on New Year's Eve and St. Pat's day.

Arnie's is my usual haunt, but I start getting claustrophobic when the Friday night music crowd starts showing up after 8pm.  With the St. Pat's crowd it's just about impassable.  I talked to Chris and JoAnn Sunday night, they said they reached their occupancy limit by 10pm.
