I would have PM'ed you about this, but I thought perhaps other people reading this would use the answer you provide.
Here it is:
My microwave oven died. I got a new one. Is there a place that recycles old microwaves? Or does it simply qualify for the city's large-item pickup?
It is legal to dispose of a microwave oven with regular trash and you can put a small one out with the regular trash and a large one can be picked up by calling the City of Tulsa bulky waste pickup at 596-9777.
I do not know of any appliance dealers who would want this broken appliance, but you might call the repair guys with your model number in case they want parts.
I don't know what part of the microwave oven could be considered hazardous, but I will ask around.
"what part of the microwave oven could be considered hazardous?" - curious mind
The part that falls off a two story building and koncks you on the head.
I just used a "message Icon", so, who said old dogs can't still chew a meaty bone?
microwaves are only radioactive when they are on. Its not like you are throwing away depleted uranium or something.[}:)]
They use radio waves (microwaves...), not radiation.
Too bad too, I need some plutonium for my time machine.
Okie recycling- use it for target practice.
