For those of you who have enjoyed the Art Car Parade in Houston, it looks like we've got one coming our way in Tulsa (sponsored by Living Arts)! I can't wait! Should be a hoot!

I hope that people will really get into this and make it fun and creative. I'm sure that lots of people will travel here with their art cars (some of which take years to make). But I hope local Tulsans will get on board as well. (I'm wondering how hard it would be to make a "Fred Flintstone" car that would be operated by foot power!...though my legs are significantly longer than Fred's...I'd probably get a hamstring cramp!)
Deadline for applications is April 1. The parade will be the weekend of May 18-20.
Catagories are:
Art Car
Contraption
Cycle
Lowrider
Painted car
Skater(s)
Youth group
Performance
Political Statement
I think they need to include a bicycle category as well, cause you know he's gonna show up!

May I suggest forgetting about the foot power and get an old golf cart to convert, it could end up looking just like Fred's old ride.
I also think this car show is an awesome idea. I can't wait to get there with my camera and get some shots of everyones creative humor and etc. It truly should be a hoot! [8D]
Wow! I might just enter this thing. Let's see...how about a conceptual art piece....say, "Cycling middle aged pudgy guy desperately sucking up oxygen."
It's a work in progress.
Interesting. Soon enough humanity won't view artwork unless it's tattooed onto some fat guy's stomach (Futurama).
Cool
I love a parade
Dude in OKC has the coolest car, he hangs at the Waffle House East of Downtown.
He has this car that has a train with special wheels running around the hood, cowboys and indian figuers, Bobble Head Dolls in the back window, a ka-zillion jewels hot glued on and a huge assortment of other things he has found to stick on it.
If you are ever in OKC stop by that Waffle House and check out that car. Wish I could of seen the thing on a few special party nights that back in the 60's LOL
