This was news what, like 6 months ago?

Anyway, I went there the other day. Closing at 5 is a bit annoying.

Not a coffee drinker here, but I think he must be putting crack in the coffee.  Everyone I know who goes there is completely addicted.

Did they just start closing at 5?  Seems like I've been there late at night before with friends.

I think a state law prohibiting coffee sales (and possibly consumption) after five pm should be considered.

I see it no differently than stopping 3.2 beer sales at two am.

Last I heard..Brian (the owner) was running the whole show at DoubleShot...i.e. opening and closing each day.

If you love your coffee...DoubleShot is tough to beat.

When I worked downtown I had a mean doubleshot addiction.  I took a friend there when he was in town for a week and he went nuts trying to find coffee as good in his hometown.  [}:)]

I agree with the addiction.  I live in Dallas but it's all I brew.  I stock up when I'm home in Tulsa.  A while back I had to do some Whole Foods beans and it just wasn't the same.

That dude is like the soup nazi from Seinfeld. The coffee must be great, cause people sure aren't going there for the friendly service.

Coffee people always have their heads up their butts. Nothing new there.

I was glad to see that he won his fight against Starbucks.

But where is this place? Does he only have one store?

It's been just the past couple of months that the hours changed. They're only open until 3pm on the weekends.

More on the Tulsa DoubleShot
http://blogcritics.org/archives/2006/04/03/021136.php

"The most recent target of the ire of Starbucks is a small independent coffee shop and roaster of ultra-premium coffees located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. DoubleShot Coffee Company recently received a letter asking it to change the name of the store. It turns out the name DoubleShot Coffee Company is close to the name of a Starbucks product. Starbucks Doubleshot is an espresso and milk drink served in cans and sold at convenience stores and supermarkets. The similarities end there."

That's why he's always pissed off. and I agree w/ OP closing at 5 kinda sucks. I've gone in there at 4 before during the week to grab some coffee afterwork/before school and they've been closed. =\

More like delayed if he's not careful.  He'd better learn to develop some humility and stop broadcasting this David v. Goliath crap before they "reopen" their case against him...

Oh boy! Looks like Starbucks has a real legal battle brewing, so they obviously saw the light and let this one go.

Here's a yahoo news link to their new problem, which I find quite comical:
