Title: Sooner Guardsman Speaks His Mind
Post by: Chicken Little on February 01, 2007, 01:39:32 PM
Looks like he'll be back in June from this round and deploying again next January.

I don't know how I will tell my wife  (//%22http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/2/1/12453/77015%22)

Read it...so what's the point...he enlisted, doesn't want to go back...tell him there's another option, but he should check with Ehren Watada before making up his mind.

The point?  Nothing worth fighting over.  He's just an okie who is sacrificing a lot for all of us.  Whether you agree with the guy or not, he earned that 30 seconds you gave him.  That's the point, I guess.

Agreed, he deserves respek, and has earned more than we can ever give him...I'm sure it sucks over there, a partner with the firm I clerked for just got back not long ago, and he really doesn't want another go around either, but such is the nature of being in the service.

This guy was a stud, he was sent over as a JAG officer and could have worked his way into a safezone for most of his deployment, but decided to go out on patrols and work right along side with another unit.  I have several very scary stories he emailed us...war is most definitely hell...

Ours is a Navy man, headed to Afghanistan.  A squid in the desert.

Well, tell him God speed, and we are all greatful for his service.

It drives my wife nuts, but I always stop and shake their hands and say thank you when I see them in airports on the way out...
