How is the job market for teachers in the tulsa area? I am currently living in Michigan and needless to say the market here is worse than awful.
Thanks.
Wish I could help you on that. As an FYI, there are several, high quality public school districts (Union, Jenks, Bixby), magnet schools (Booker T), college preparatory (Holland Hall), gifted (University School), and private (Monte Cassino, Riverfield). Sorry if I offended anyone
I bet there are jobs available, but you might not like how much they pay.
Plenty of jobs, pay is lackluster but improving as of recently.
Two professors I know that once lived in Tulsa are now living and working in Kuwait. They have been there for 13 years. Pay is much higher than what they earned here, plus their benefit package is very comfortable.
Both were employed in Tulsa for the public school system and one later with the University of Tulsa for several years prior to making the move to work in foreign countries. One worked in Mexico prior to moving to Kuwait.
Holland Hall and Cascia are usually very good schools to go with, but the jobs are infrequent. Depending on the grade you are desiring to teach at, each school will have one or two that leave each year... MAYBE.
Thank you. Keep in mind where I'm coming from NO jobs, and a market of 1500 apps PER job. Plus I sub right now which means I make probably a quarter of what the starting pay is there.
But thank you all for your help. :)
