Title: Tulsa Trees Budding Already
Post by: Rowdy on January 10, 2007, 08:06:22 PM
Someone help me out here as I am only a green thumb when it comes to lawncare...

Why is it that I see trees budding already and it is only the second week of January?  I don't recall my oak trees and the others sprouting already-what gives?

It's called warm temperatures and rain.

Those buds will be short-lived, though. This weekend's weather will take care of that.

The weather lately has been pretty rough on trees.

The summer drought and the freeze/thaw cycle of winter is terrible on tree health. Go out and water the tree as much as you can before the freeze hits.

Definately water everything very well before the ffreezing rain hits.

I am hoping that we get sleet instead. The buds will still be gone but at least with sleet the new growth won't break off.

If it's a small new tree you can tie the tops together and wrap them in burlap to protect them from breaking.
