Title: TU v. ORU - Why were ORU students escorted out?
Post by: Markk on November 29, 2006, 12:42:48 PM
About 10 minutes into the game, a large group of ORU students were apparently escorted out and did not return.  What happened?  What did they do?  I assumed curfew was at 7:30 . . .

They might have been proselytizing. That happened once at my alma mater (Furman University) in an episode with Bob Jones University. Evidently the Southern Baptist school (at the time Southern Baptist, now independent) was not conservative enough. Now Bob Jones students are only allowed to attend on-campus events, but not to socialize with Furman students without direct invitation. I am not too crazy about this edict (however, calling Furman liberal is a joke by my standards), but Furman is a private university. They can enforce rules public universities cannot.

They probably weren't exhibiting proper "ORU student behavior."  I have known many ORU students over the years, and their "on-campus" and "off-campus" behavior and personalities were two entirely different things.  The ORU morality police are probably out in force at sporting events.

They were trying to sit in the TU student section even though their tickets were somewhere else.  They were being escorted to their proper seats which apparently were much higher in the arena.  That's all.

bacjz:  You mean, they were removed for legitimate reasons and not by ORU's morality police? What is this world coming to when you can't blame religion for something as simple as this.

LOL, darn I thought the good ole days at ORU were being 'resurrected'.  I undergraduated there.  In my era, one of the art classes' assignments were to construct objects all over the campus. A very cool dude constructed three mushrooms, the middle mush was huge.  Well, long story short, he put a mattress in the top of it. Access was via a hidden door.  ALOT of us visited the the mushroom, two by two of course.  LOL.  I have the pics and the yearbook to prove it.  Wonder where mushroom man is?
