Ok, my curiosity got the best of me today. Over at 21st and Yale, in front of Reasor's, there is a "gentleman's" club. I know it hasn't always been that. was it a restuarant? a bank? I seem to remember fountains. Anyone?
There was a steak house type restaurant there until the early 80's. It burned and was rebuilt and for some reason sat empty for a few years until the gentleman's club took it over.
Speaking of restaurants (just as a side-question), does anyone know if Back Street Bistro in Jenks is still any good?
Hate to say it but I never thought they were good.
I have always found the Back Street Bistro to be excellent. A great business lunch atmosphere and significant others seem to enjoy a date night of the quiet dining vs. many of the noisy rooms in other retaurants.

Wonderful food and friendly staff.
On the subject of "quaint" restaurants...: Anyone ever been to the Peach House in Broken Arrow? Does it still exist? Any good?

As previous poster mentioned, it was originally built as a steak house restaurant, a "Golden Corral" type of place. After the restaurant closed, it was a bank branch office for several years, Mid-America Federal Savings and Loan I think, the same S&L that had an office in the now destroyed Mayo Meadow Shopping center at 21st & Yale. The bank folded; then came the strip club.
According to snapshots of the Criss Cross directories the history is as follows:
1881 S. Yale Av.
Opened in 1975 as Mid America S&L
Became the Sizzler in 1981
Vacant in 1987 (didn't check 86 or 85)
Still vacant in 1992
Became Club Paradise in 1995 maybe even 94 or 93 didn't check these years.
Currently the "Ritz Cabernet and Cafehouse".
So first was S&L, then Steakhouse, then vacant, then stripclub.

Thanks MJ; I had all the incarnations right, just not in the correct order.
