With the news this morning about nuclear secrets being taken from the internet, I did some Googling to refresh my memory on previous stories like this, here's one particular gem:
"Missing nuclear secrets found behind Los Alamos copy machine"

Sounds like you are either part of a cover up or part of the spin machine.

I thought there wasn't a nuclear program in Iraq. I mean, Joe Wilson said so. Oh, Merry Fitzmas
There wasn't one when Joe Wilson went there.
The nuclear program the recent articles refer to means before the first Iraq War in 1991, genius.
After the war, no nuclear program in Iraq existed.

The docs were from the late '70s. Remember in 1981 (//%22http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/june/7/newsid_3014000/3014623.stm%22) when Israel bombed their reactor into talcum powder?
Then I seem to recall Saddam had a little trouble in '90-'91 (//%22http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_War%22). I'm sure the guy still
wanted to be a bad*ss, but after the Gulf War, Saddam wasn't an external threat.
The nuclear cookbook was of little value to anyone until the feds posted it. It was in ARABIC fer chrissake! This is a major screw up.

If it had happened under the dems, the story would be much bigger.... they'd have the tar and feathers ready.
When Saddam killed those Kurds, the American government did'nt care, in fact, we continued to buy oil from Iraq as if nothing happened. We even sold WMD to Iraq!http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/12/31/world/main534798.shtml

Right, like when Bill Richardson was the Energy Secretary under Bill Clinton and nuclear secrets were disappearing to China and Chinese were donating to Clinton's '96 campaign. Ever notice how that whimpered off into oblivion?
This post wasn't politically motivated, just pointing out the irony that there seems to have been a sieve under our countries nuclear secrets dating back to the Rosenburgs.
I highly doubt that the "secrets" which were on the internet were of any use to anyone- nobody is that friggin' stupid.
Conan, EVERYTHING is political to Aox. Every bad thing that has happened is a direct result of the "Repugnicans." [:D]
Snopes, I love the new avatar! Go kitty Go!
Ya, that's one bad kitty. Rambo kitty!

Nobody? IAEA technical experts were "shocked" (//%22http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/03/world/middleeast/03documents.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&adxnnlx=1162925187-WIpKzCFaq0uklCy2Ho2kZw%22) at the public disclosures.

The documents, roughly a dozen in number, contain charts, diagrams, equations and lengthy narratives about bomb building that nuclear experts who have viewed them say go beyond what is available elsewhere on the Internet and in other public forums. For instance, the papers give detailed information on how to build nuclear firing circuits and triggering explosives, as well as the radioactive cores of atom bombs.
Sounds pretty
monumentally stupid to me. Why would someone do this?
quote:
The Bush administration did so under pressure from Congressional Republicans who had said they hoped to "leverage the Internet" to find new evidence of the prewar dangers posed by Saddam Hussein.
Politics. That's a good reason, don't ya think?[xx(]

CL, I don't know if you've ever worked in or with the government but most government employees aren't the brightest of the bunch. I've worked with the Defense Department and several other branches of the government through contracts and to be honest, the only prerequisites for most government employees is that they are capable of passing a background check. Once many of these people get into their positions, they are rarely fired or even get pushed to do better. They become stagnant and dumb themselves down to the lowest common denominator. This opinion isn't political, it's just my observation.
There's no shortage of stupid in government, but it starts at the top...very clearly in this case.

Lots of people have been seeking it for years. Even saddam had these plans:
How to make an H Bomb (//%22http://www.illtel.denver.co.us/texts/make.an.Hbomb%22)
Why did you explain how to make an h-bomb?
Do we need easier access to this kind of information?

That is one of the same plans found in the possession of people like Saddam and some terrorist groups.
It's also a parody. So yes, share with all of your friends.
