Simply appalling how TPD and TCHD have failed to put out an APB on this to every citizen in the hopes of stopping these senseless deaths opting instead to focus in on finding the "killers". If it's heroin, then our own government may be to blame. Big cities would be making this news front and center to protect young people from dying.

Well lets see ..... if you just don't do drugs, then you have nothing to worry about. Drugs are dangerous! A little common sense will go a long way.

SAD INDEED.  Chalk up yet more blood, according to the measure of innocence and guilt weighed by GOD, to the account of this hypocritical generation.

These responses make me even sadder. Righteousness isn't a virtue. Never had an addictive personality in your families? Probably do but don't know it or can't deal with it. So people who break your moral standards...they just deserve to die. And God is just too happy to deliver the sentence because he's weighed their innocence vs their guilt and he has no choice. They gotta go. Geez, we're just so lucky he hasn't noticed all the gluttonous overweight sinners here in Okieville. That sin of lust for food and money just doesn't rank with the others I guess. Humans are hypocrits period. This generation, the last one, the next one...you.

I think you got my word twisted there, waterboy.  Wickedness was at play in these peoples death.  And cause for effect, many in the world fall slain due to the backslidden ways of our selfish rulers, who forsake the truth and mercy.

1 Corinthians 4:4

"For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord. (v.5) Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God."

I am well acquainted with wickedness. Please don't try to preach the word to us here. Or start your own thread with scripture as the topic and you won't have to worry about people questioning you or your faith. Perhaps you could school others with truth and mercy deficits like Cubs.

Is it possible these people were poisoned at a local watering hole rather than a self-induced overdose?? Date rape drugs and other narcotics can easily be slipped into a person's drink.

One of those could have been a person who stopped in to the bar for one drink after work and got poisoned.

Of course, the fundamentalists who rail against alcohol should remember that Jesus drink and served wine.

You're a crazy person.  How do you possibly go from:
mysterious drug deaths -> our government is to blame -> Tulsa is lame?

You know what "big cities" do?  They wait for the number of overdoses to hit 100 or more over a several-month period.  Then, and only then, does the story make the papers.

Agreed. But it looks more city wide than a single watering hole.

And Floyd, YOU are making that leap not me. I am merely pointing out what sophisticated cities do in this case. And it does not take more than 5 deaths in a two day period to get health departments and police to pay attention once the common denominator is drug use. The sad thing is death.

And if you think I am a crazy person, that makes you a moron.

No one is saying this isn't sad.  I said you're a crazy person because you somehow manage to infer from this article Tulsa is unsophisticated.  It's a total non sequitur and it undercuts your credibility.

My point in posting is to show that these circumstances, as well as the city's reaction to it, have nothing whatsoever to do with the size or level of sophistication of the city.  You made this jump.  That's why I called you crazy.  You're like that weird aunt who doesn't understand what everyone else is discussing so you start hurling accusations.

Sorry. With our crime rate here what it is, I will refer to our security force as unsophisticated.

And as far as the County Health Department on this issue, I reserve final judgement.

Like I am concerned about my credibility here with you posties. "Believe it if you need it if not just pass it on...."

I start these threads so follow the discussion and don't give me that bs about hurling accusations or jumping in the middle. Just try to stay OT.

I like being a little weird. All you TYPoes should encourage that free spirit attitude. It encourages diversity.

My "weird" comments obviously cause distress in here for the dull ones.....

Normally I wouldn't comment but I'm off sick today and bored sh**less.

Aox if you want people to stop jumping in your face relax with the namecalling and casting aspersions. In your last three posts you used 5 disparaging names: unsophisticated, morons, TYPoes, dull, and goons. Kind of distracts from your topics. In fact they're like digital bombs. We all resort to namecalling and expletives when words fail (some more than others eh Bruno?), but you are exceeding the norm.

Sensitive over name calling but not over how our society treats the issue I brought up here. I did not instigate the name calling. Someone named Floyd did.....

The bible thumper stuff does not belong here.
The person whose doing this is a passionate person. Is that better?

I remember back in my, going out to after party days, how often you would see drugs at them.  You can go to any club, and apparently these people who died had been seen at them just before, and ask where the after party is and often they will have little tickets with the address on them or you follow the crowd.  You would go there and sure enough in some back room or bathroom there would be people using drugs, after a while you could tell who the dealers were, users, etc.  I couldnt help but thinking how easy it would be for the police to get people to go to these parties and call when something was going on or take names of the dealers or simply have cops from other areas who arent known and go to the parties themselves, kind of a cop exchange program lol.  It would be so easy to take out a lot of the dealers and users. I could get into any Tulsa chat room right now and find someone who could sell me drugs or find ones who are users. They often have their screen names saying so! "Party4fn" or "420gal" etc. etc.  How dense do you have to be? Seems our police are purely reactive not proactive.  They sit around in their cars waiting to get a call something bad has happened, rather than going after these people. You look at how in your face all the drug activity is in this city and wonder why the obvious isnt being done?

Axman.. If it does turn out to be heroine my money is on Afghani Import...

Same sort of BS happened during Nam.. They were shipping it back in body bags then...

As with most military employees soldiers are underpaid and overworked... Not an excuse but a possible element of that sort of crime.

Da World missing the point.....as usual...

"Overdoses suspected in seven deaths"

http://www.tulsaworld.com/OpinionStory.asp?ID=061101_Op_A12_Amyst47970

" Actual causes of death will not be determined until police receive toxicology reports from the state medical examiner, which could take up to 14 weeks."

a good detective unit with the health departments' aid should be able to get right down to the cause....it looks like no other incidences after the weekend but who knows what news is being protected in the bigger hope of finding the source....

Post by: sgrizzle on November 01, 2006, 12:47:55 PM
Bottom line is that it could be coincide, could be bad licorice. Toxicology reports don't come in with CSI-like speed but hopefully this is an isolated set of incidents.

Either way, not sure that Jesus or the City of Tulsa have much to do with the cause of the deaths or are particularly relevant.

P.S. "TYPoes" now THAT's funny!

On a side note...I read where some people in Panama had died from taking over the counter cold medicines....We all know what the main ingredient in Meth is Pseudoephedrine....And now with that product being controlled here in Oklahoma it's now coming from Mexico...Kinda makes you wonder if the deaths in Panama could be linked to Meth made in Latin American countries outside the U.S. with these cold medicines killing people in Panama...

Channel 2 finally did a report on this....it looks like bad meth.

The city should be out there warning the public big time since 7 deaths have taken place. But not a peep. SHAMEFUL! In the best case scenario lives are saved. In the worse case, drug users are awakended to the potential of death as a result of their intake.

That's true. But those of us who live in the real world don't put much faith in overly simplistic solutions that don't work.

So tell us, Mr. Sanctity of Human Life, are you proposing more and better education or are you saying that it's a GOOD thing when someone who uses illegal drugs dies? You almost sound like you delight in their deaths.

I'm not sure that scare tactics will be effective either. If someone's really addicted, they're gonna use it no matter what the potential consequences are.
