I worked as a contractor at Sabre in Southlake, Texas about 8 years ago and I recall that they had a large security center or something of that sort in Tulsa (don't know where).
Is it still there and how many people does it employ? Also, as I recall, it wasn't a call center but a state of the art "bunker type" security center full of highly paid software engineers and designers for software security. Can anyone shed any light on this?
This topic might oughta be posted in the development forum, but I was curious as to if Sabre had moved the office or shut it down.
Got this off Wikipedia.
A formal development arrangement was signed in 1957, and the first experimental system went online in 1960, based on two IBM 7090 mainframes in a new data center located in Briarcliff Manor, New York. The system was a success, luckily because the whole program to this point had cost the astonishing sum of $40 million to develop and install it, about $350 million in 2000 dollars. The system took over all booking functions in 1964, at which point the name had changed to the more familiar SABRE. In 1972 the system was moved to IBM System/360 systems in a new underground location in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
I wonder if it is still there. I recall people talking alot about this when I was at Sabre. They were kind of in awe of the place.
Still there, Sabre is basically the hub for ticketing and reservations with all major airlines, car rentals, etc.

Sabre is a quality company, but their culture is strange. I was working on training curriculum when I was there and they were very much into micromanagement. However, everything they had was first rate and top dollar. Things have probably changed alot in 7 years though.
I beleive they are in the Tech Ridge Office Park on 41st and Mingo. At least they have a sign there.
The bunker is still out by the American Airlines maintenance base at the airport. Seems like EDS took over operation of it a few years back.
Speaking of bunker type buildings. Does anyone know what occupies the bunker building in the Cherokee Industrial Park - at 76th ST N & Lakewood? It took years to build and is made of solid concrete. Now it looks pretty secure with no indication of what company is there.

That is Sabre's bunker, or it may be EDS now, I'm not sure. Sabre did sell a lot of stuff to EDS. Either way that is not where most of the people work, it's a really secure site. I do think that most of the employees are at 41st and Mingo.
