The National Confectioners Association's (NCA) 2006 National Trick-or-
Treat Traditions Survey asked Americans to pick their favorite city for
Halloween festivities. Each of the top five cities offer a different twist
to the trick-or-treat tradition:
1. Sunshine Spooktacular. One-forth (25 percent) of Americans say trick-or-treating, without a jacket, in Orlando is their top pick.
2. Ghosts, Goblins and Witches. Nearly a quarter (23 percent) of trick-or-treaters chose Boston, a city known for Halloween lore and traditions.
3. Star-Studded Evening. Star-struck Americans chose Los Angeles as the "set" to don their costumes (15 percent).
4. Shop-n-Spook. Collecting candy and shopping in Minneapolis at Mall of America tops the list for retail-minded revelers (13 percent).
5. Down-Home Halloween. Tulsa draws a handful of trick-or-treaters (5 percent) for its hometown Halloween appeal.

One thing I truly enjoy about Tulsa & Halloween is that we still have numerous trick-or-treaters. Other cities seem to have eliminated the tradition, opting instead for parties. I love seeing all of the kids come to the door in their costumes.

I think not untypical of Tulsans.
I took my kids to Porter this weekend to pick apples & go for a hayride. Then we went to the Muskogee castle. They had a great time, though they insisted they weren't scared at the castle.
Halloween is a fun holiday. I think Tulsa has always turned out well for it like the promotions at the zoo, the parade on Brookside, etc.
It's hillarious because my step kids who are both in their 20's want to know what their mother and I are dressing up as.
We've started a new tradition on my block of trick-or-treating with a shot glass. [8)]
Yep, I could agree with Tulsa being high on the list. We usually have quite a few trick or treaters and go out oursevles. With our daughter of course. [;)]
Nothing like teaching our kids to go up to strangers and beg for candy...
I remember trying to explain to my four year old that, no, we couldn't go knock on some more doors the next day and ask for more candy.

It's funny that you say that because unfortunately it's true in today's day and age. I remember being younger and the only thing you had to be concerned about were razor-bladed apples and needles in your candybar.

There have been only about ten documented cases of sharp objects being put in Halloween treats nationwide .... ever. Despite that, millions of dollars have been spent by communities to x-ray candies and apples, all to no avail.
There is far, far more danger with the little ones racing across streets from house to house with limited vision from their masks.

Say what you will, but that doesn't change the fact that every Halloween we were all told to watch out for sharp objects. Regardless, to say only ten "documented" cases in the history of Halloween have shown sharp objects to have been found in candy is a bit of a stretch. Im sure the number is/has been quite higher.

Hey, did you guys hear that Mikey (of Life) DIED when he mixed soda with pop rocks? Its true. And I know the razor story is true because I have a friend whose aunt told her....
So, fess up--whose parents took their candy bag to the hospital to X-ray it? And how many of the homemade rice crispie treats did you have to throw away cuz it could have been poisoned?

You took a simple post that I made and started something out of nothing. I made a simple comment that back in my days, the worst part of Halloween was simply worrying about sharp objects in candy versus today's dangers. Whether or not that was true or false isn't the point.

I believe was called the MaHu Mansion(?) on Memorial.
