Can anyone tell me why the old Camelot hotel is going to waste??? It is such a neat building. I hate to see it go to waste. Can anyone tell me why it shut down in the first place? I think it needs to be restored and turned into somethin. Does anyone else agree?

It is going to be fully restored and renovated into the 500th Quiktrip!! I wasnt alive in the generation when Camelot was "the place" but the area surrounding it now isnt the best. It has been closed as long as I can remember. (I am 25). The different articles I have read simply say that it had a swift decline in business and closed its doors in the 1980's. Sad to see it go, but change isnt always bad!
I worked at the Camelot as a bus boy in the mid 1960's it was a show place and the place to be back then.
It changed ownership several times over the years and they just did not keep the property up. It is a same, it was a landmark with it's unique architectural design.
Here's some good info on the Camelot if you're curious about its history.

The notion that a hotel generically modeled like a castle could be "the place" just seems odd to be. Crazy 1960s.
