Here is the story in tomorrow's World...

River development promoters ask for public hearings
A group promoting a $788 million development in the Arkansas River have asked the Tulsa County Commissioners to hold public hearings on the idea.

Tulsa Stakeholders Inc. requested a formal structure for public input on The Channels development plan.

The commissioners are expected ask the Indian Nation Council of Governments to lead the hearings, which could begin as early as this week.

"We said during our announcement of The Channels that we wanted an open dialogue with the community," said John-Kelly Warren, one of the Tulsa Stakeholders. "The feedback we have received to date is that our communities and elected officials want a formal process for input, so that's what we'll do."

The development plan would create a 12-mile lake and three islands for housing, entertainment and public places on the Arkansas River.
