Title: Coburn +1: Pork Database Gets Go-Ahead
Post by: Chicken Little on September 08, 2006, 09:51:10 AM
Credit where its due.  The Coburn/Obama anti-pork, Google-type, database of public spending is going to happen.

If you have been tracking this, you will remember that a Republican Senator tried, unsuccessfully, to kill the bill with a "secret hold".  Well, some secrets are hard to keep and it turns out that the Senator was none other than Alaska Senator Ted Stevens.  Tom and Ted butted heads over the infamous (and now fully-funded) "Bridge to Nowhere".

A big part of this new push for government transparency was a bi-partisan effort by the liberal and conservative blogosphere.  This is great news for those who would like to see a return to fiscal responsibility in our federal government.

Here's the story from the Tulsa World (//%22http://www.tulsaworld.com/NewsStory.asp?ID=060908_Ne_A5_Senat62698%22).
