Title: Sex Offenders in Tulsa
Post by: DM on June 28, 2006, 02:16:47 PM
Good story from KTUL (//%22http://www.ktul.com/news/stories/0606/340012.html%22)

Although I have no sympathy for violent sex offenders or child sex offenders, I really wonder if this law gives sex offenders any chance at making something of their lives? I believe in rehabilitation in SOME cases. But I also think that some of these people just cant be helped.

IMO I think they should color-code the sex offenders. Red are the worst ones. Violent or child sex offenders and yellow for sex offenses like under age sex. An 18 year old having sex with a 15 year old or something like that.

Now before anyone tries to jump on me, I am not saying that sex with an underage person or minor is OK. But it is different then violent or child sex offenses.

But I wanted to post this to see what you all think. Lets just keep this on topic and play nice people!! [;)]

(TULSA, Okla.) January 31 - Sex offenders are getting harder to track in Tulsa.
Police say many of them have stopped registering because of a law passed last spring.

I think they should create different levels or ratings of sex offenders, based on several factors including the age of the victim and whether or not they assaulted multiple victims.

The D.A. could also weigh other factors individually in each case before assigning a level. Level 3 being the worst, and level 1 being less restrictive to the offender. A trial could determine guilty or not guilty on the level the D.A. requests, kind of like  how the courts differentiate between murder and manslaughter.

The law is not fair as it is now, classifying someone who has consensual sex with a girl just under the age limit with the same nutjob who would break into a house and assault an 8-year-old.

As I've seen in many of these stories, the consensual couple later ends up married, but the husband is still considered a sex offender, even though he only had sex with his wife before she was 17.

I'm all for chemical castration of Level 3 offenders, I might add. But there are dfferent levels of sex crimes, and the law should recognize this.

I'm not a supporter of torture.

If someone rapes a child, I'd be in favor of the death penalty by chemical injection for that individual before I would favor torturing him.

And a child that is being raped is NOT torture????.If they rape a child,a dull ax will do just fine.

Trouble is, castration doesn't work all that well, either.

Google the name of Wayne Dumond and surf around a few stories. It's a pretty ugly tale.

So what level or color is given to a person who is urinating on the roadside and arrested for Ind. exposure and later required to regs. as a sex offender?

Likewise for the woman who flashes from a limousine window or her boyfriend who moons a cop?
